The dialogue between the United States and Mexico, culminating in the Bush-Fox visit of September 5, 2001, promised to open exciting new ways for the two countries to regularize the historic migration relationship between them.
The two Presidents discussed making "legality" the norm -- regularizing the status of millions of undocumented Mexican immigrants working hard, paying taxes, and raising families in America, and providing new temporary programs for those who wish to work in the U.S. and return home. Mexican Workers Are Integral to U.S. Economic Growth. The portion of Mexican workers in the U.S. workforce has doubled during the past decade, as they become more integral to the nation's economic growth. While other immigrant groups also perform these essential worker jobs, the size of the Mexican population makes its impact on the U.S. economy more quantifiable. Mexican Workers Are Filling Needed Jobs in New Geographic Areas. Mexican workers are becoming increasingly important in locations throughout the nation not previously known for large immigrant populations, including southern states such as Mississippi and Tennessee. New Jobs Will Not Require Advanced Education. Nearly 43 percent of all job openings by 2010 will require only a minimal education, at a time when native-born Americans are obtaining college degrees in record numbers and are unlikely to accept positions requiring minimal education. America's current immigration policies are antiquated and fail to recognize the importance of Mexican workers to the national economy. The nation must act to reform immigration laws so that they give the immigration system the integrity to keep Americans safe, while at the same time giving businesses the essential workers they need to succeed. U.S. immigration law must provide ways for Mexican workers to enter and remain in the U.S., in both temporary and permanent status, with protections to assure that they have the dignity and respect they deserve, given the important contributions they make to America. The status quo can no longer be accepted if the United States is to remain the world's leading economy. source - American Immigration Law Foundation. Summary = the US needs the influx of people South of the border. |

I just think its a major amount of BS that humanity has to be restrained and boxed in.
The freedom to move to a better place is a fundamental right, not a priviledge "No, Im sorry Mr. Central American, you cannot bring your family into the US. You have to stay in Central America and starve and get the crap kicked out of you and live in fear for your life. Oh and by the way, if you serve my lobster thermidor without the proper cutlery again, Im going to ship your arse back!" Makes me sick! |

The Lonely Walker writes:
" what culture my friend? if you see north american all over the streets getting drunk on 5 de mayo (may 5th) the mexican independance. you don't see mexicans in mexico partying for 4th of july. " Funny you should mention drinking and partying. One illegal where I live got drunk and ran his car up on a sidewalk, narrowly missing killing a group of people. He was running on fake out-of-state tags and didn't have a legal driver's license, so naturally, no insurance either (in this state, insurance is mandatory for just this sort of situation). What if had turned out different, Miguel? Who would have made a better life for the kids of those people? The taxpayers, you? It certainly wouldn't have been him, because he tried to leave the scene, but his car was 'no va.' That's the heart of the problem-- no documentation, no responsibility, just more and more evasion. The U.S. has the one of most liberal immigration policies in the world. Is it too much to ask for accountability backed up by legal documentation and procedure? I don't think so, and many naturalized immigrants will say the same thing if you ask them one-on-one. Lastly, one illegal here also has a sticker derogatory to the American flag on his truck. Like that's going to soften the hearts of Americans fed up with the lawlessness of illegals, huh? -Kerry O. |

What about all those people who pay loads of money and wait years to be legal citizens only to be "cut in front of" by those of Hispanic nature? I'd be pretty mad if I was from Canada and wanting US citizenship and I see illegals getting legal just cause they showed up.
Just me tho. |

Belushi,
The AILF is a one sided bias organization whose very name contradicts American popular opinion. They exist for the illegal immigrant, the information they release is false, and they supply lawyers to help illegal immigrants beat the laws of this country regarding illegal immigration. The have been active in every state in the country trying to favorably change legislation for the illegal immigrants. Between them and the ACLU, is the reason the INS can not enforce current immigration laws. Every time they try, these organizations file law suits against the government, tying it up in court for years and costing us more tax money. They are currently supplying free legal help to illegal immigrants in Ga. and trying to defeat their new laws which were enacted on July 1. Who funds them I don't know, but I have been looking. |

once again we point out single examples of some immigrants who make stupid things which I hate because what they do is making anti-immigrants right.
Nevertheless, we deny the larger picture. The vast amount of immigrants who work their rear ends off. Those who make u pay a couple of dollars for tomatoes instead of 15 bucks for a pound. those who keep working for low wages, so u can buy produce a decent prices. please please people see the big picture. another thing if we see beer consumption rate in the US, we will see that in general (big picture) this country has a severe alcoholism issue, so we can't target a group of people when we have a general issue. |

I want to know who is who
what if u r on the road and you see an "illegal" immigrant (which is very obvious) beat to death. Would you help him? what if he is with his wife and and his young children all of them starving to death and all of them "illegals" would u help them? If you want to know where this question is coming from refer to my thread SUNDAY 07/15/2007 MASS GOSPEL on the religion chats. Please read that first before answering this question If u r not a christian don't bother just answer. Miguel |

Ok, Im out of my league here, but here's my two cents. Illeagal, out you and your family go, until they jump through all the same legal hoops people from other countries who's citizens want to immigrate have to do as well.
I have no problem with legal immigration, just illeagal immigration. From any country! Hell, what about the people of Africa! You talk about starving families.....war....decent.....your "homeboys" are not the only country that has problems. Your "homeboys" just have better access and those that take advantage of it should suffer the same consequences as ANYONE else should. What really ticks me off it your "homeboys" wanting to run up the Mexican flag with the State of California flag. ABSURD!!!!!!! There are good, bad and right and wrong points on both sides. My fav teacher once to me this before I took a really hard test ( he knew I was sweating it) "KISS"..he said..."huh? I said Then he said, Keep it simple stupid...... Get leagal, no problem. Break the law and complain about it, out you go! Tons of people in european countries would love to take part in your little agriculture shpeel. Maybe we should make out boarders availablbe to them, free rides on fright liners. They would love to come here on the condition they become leagal citizens. Then what would happen to your cheap laborers arguement. Ok, I could go on forever. Just one thing again. Legalized I say ok, illegal, out you go until you become legal. Pay your dues like everyone else that wants to immigrate. Jump through all the legal mumbo jumbo, just like other people do. I say we import some starving people from Europe and Africa, legalize them and see what happens to the economy? Eh? I'm sure they would have no problem working for the same wages as you "Homeboys" legal=stay Illegal=stay out KISS...keep it simple stupid Big sighhhhhhhh, wish our government could do that. Im done with my rant, just be considerate and know that your arguement could very weell become global. Then you better be getting those college degree that have so many generous scholarships so you don't have to pay for it! Because you might find you will have competition for those so called menial jobs! |

first, u r stating a problem with no practical solution. The US government does not offers a practical solution either. Ergo, they are not willing to make you happy. You say kick them out. Ok let's kick them out, but tell me how, how much is going to cost you as a taxpayer. How much is going to cost you to import cheap laborers from europe or africa?
Second, I have clearly stated that I'm here as an international student. I'm paying school upfront. I have to pay an out-of-state fee which makes me pay three times as much as any citizen or resident would pay. I don't have access to any scholarship whatsoever, plus i have the same daily expenses as anybody has in this country. So let's kick immigrants out cool. But tell me an intelligent way to do it. and how much will it cost in tax dollars. furthermore, compare and contrast with how much would it cost to keep them here allowing them to pay taxes. somebody please take me out of my ignorance. How are you going to keep them out? |

What about the children who are born here but the parents are illegal? Keep the kids because they're citizens but ship out the parents. What then? I just think there HAS to be a better way to handle this. And, bravo, TLW, for being willing to stand up and speak your mind.
Same goes for everyone else here. That is the point of our country, right? Everyone can express their opinions. Nothing you says you have to agree. |
|
|

u see the children born here are another issue. But most of the people here are worried about their welfare and social security benefits.
they don't consider that. so let's kick them out. but tell me how? |
