It's explained in Revelation, you can read it there.

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Revelation+1&version=NIV

Hey I've read revelation and it reads like someone on drugs.

My point is that I have met different Christians and different off shoot religions of Christianity and they all have a different idea.

If you read it, then you know. :)

Everybody has read it. Nobody knows.

I doubt that, but you may be right. Who knows?

Think of it kinda like the sun. The sun is so far away from earth, but light and warmth from the sun reach, so in a way isn't the sun on earth? That's kinda how it is with God. There's three parts, Jesus is just one of those parts, the Son, there's the Father, and Holy Spirit also.

That's the kind of warning I get from frustrated people who take personal offense because I don't agree their religious views.

The question, and I have heard many different answers to this one...

What's going to happen when Jesus gets back?

or... what has to happen before he comes back?

or .. is he coming back at all?

I personally don't believe in those superstitions.

However, based on what the biblical stories have Jesus saying I would certainly have nothing to worry about. I'm sure that Jesus would greet me with open arms as I would him. I don't see where there would be a problem.

Typically people who say things like, "You'll be sorry when Jesus comes back", are either making huge assumptions about the person they are saying this to, or they had been erroneously taught that Jesus is some sort of superficial jerk.

I'm not sure which case applies, but I am sure that they have no clue what they are talking about.

There is nothing in anything that has been attributed to the teachings of Jesus that would cause me to think that he would be anything but overjoyed to greet me with open arms.

What is it that these people think Jesus would be peeved about?

Maybe that's what you should ask them the next time they say that to you. Then that might reveal the incorrect assumptions that they are jumping to about you, or why they believe that Jesus is a superficial jerk.

Well I was basically talking about Jesus, the son. Not his father or his spirit.

It was Jesus the son that apparently left and said he was coming back.

I also seems like there are other religions who are waiting for the return of their God.

Just makes me wonder.

Yes, Jesus will return to earth.

I'm sure there are other religions with similar beliefes, I haven't looked into it though.

Jesus isn't comming back to comdemn non-beleivers or anything, but to call the beleivers.

I agree with Abra, I beleive he would greet you with open arms if you were to meet.

Well according to Mayan legend, their God Quetzacotal is the one that is coming back next year, December 21 2012.

I just learned in another thread that Isac Newton predicted that Jesus was coming back in 2060 and the world would end then.

You can't predict when Jesus is comming back, only God knows when he will return. Also, the world will not end when Jesus returns.

I am not doing the predicting. It was Isac Newton.

The most common interpretations I've heard is that when Jesus returns he will get rid of all the "sinners" and evil. Then the righteous people (including the unrighteous who were saved through grace too I guess), will live for 1000 years on a perfect Earth. Where the lion will lay down with the lamb. I'm not sure what their offspring will though. laugh

I never heard what's supposed to happen after the 1000 years is up. Everyone packs up and goes off to heaven I suppose. I'm not sure I fully understand the point in living on Earth for a thousand years unless Jesus in interested in see what the lion and lamb produce.

Of course, if anyone has studied the history of mathematics, they might know that back in the days of Jesus, and before that, often times the number "one thousand" simply mean, "infinitely many", or "uncountable".

So the idea that people will live for "A thousands years" with Jesus on Earth, could have actually meant that this would indeed be for eternity and that would be "heaven on Earth".

I wonder if Jesus would have a space program during that time and heaven would include going to other planets.

Like Carl Sagan always said, the stage (i.e. the universe) is far too large for the biblical plot.

If the biblical plot was to have Earth converted into heaven, then why bother with a universe with billions of galaxies each on potentially containing billions of planets?

These stories were written in an age when people had absolutely no clue how large the universe truly is, or that there existed other suns! They didn't even realize that the starts were just like the sun. They thought the stars were something entirely different. They also thought the universe was much smaller than we realized it truly is today.

In fact, the size of the universe boggles the mind. It's totally beyond our ability to even begin to try to comprehend it.

So what was the question again?

Oh yeah, Jesus coming back to planet Earth.

Hmmmm? Where is he now? On planet Zeta?

Does every planet have their own God?

Interesting questions.

I'm just trying to get it strait. So many religions seem to be expecting their God to return. He never said when. So 2000 years later people are still saying "he's coming soon."

Soon they say. Soon.

Jack & Rexella Van Impe, television evangelists are so excited about all the killing and all the bad world news because gosh oh geee, it means Jesus is coming SOON. Give me a break.

Joel Osteen teaches positive thinking with a huge ministry, which I even love to listen to. He teaches self help in the guise of religion and claims salvation is not the only way to heaven. He has made millions. He doesn't really preach from scripture much. Probably because its too negative.

What about Maitreya? New agers preach that he is coming soon. He is an Arab magician masquerading as a "Great World Teacher."

Then of course there is Sananda Immanuel or Sananda whose story has changed over the last ten years. The current story is that he allegedly lives aboard the UFO-ship called the Capricorn and works in Utah which he considers the "New Zion." Works with the Mormon cult deception and also in Jerusalem behind the scenes to prepare for his arrival as Christianity's "messiah.

I will clue you into something here.... if he is connected with the Mormans in Utah, then he is an ALIEN. Utah is full of ALIENS.

When I first heard of Sananda though, he was in his space ship (a mothership) parked behind the moon. That ship was called "Hope"

So can anyone understand why people are confused and perplexed and skeptical?

Hey I think there are aliens around pretending to be Gods. If anyone comes back, I don't intend to get in their spaceship or go anywhere with them.
