Most people don't want to hear it. All day long, every day, I hear people saying things that simply aren't true, or making arguments based on false logic. I will usually experiment, at first, with very patiently and gently pointing this out. Most of the time, most people really resent this and it leads them to greater heights of irrationality. Soon I'll taper this down to the level of 'truth' that the person seems to be able to handle.

I've found people who are studying the sciences and who are involved in science as a career are often far, far more open to hearing about how they might be wrong then the general population.

I find being honest is freeing but at the same time there are people who see it as being too brusque or mean.

Without knowing fully when someone is speaking or giving opinion that is ignorance;knowing the facts fully if someone just manipulates to give wrong picture specially for self benefit,that is lie.

Wrong perception or wrong information may mislead; ego,fear,narrow mind,jealousy etc are the cause which prevent us from speaking the truth.

Truth to the best of my knowledge has led me to a clean conscience free of guilt or regret. I try to be as honest as I can always, because I know the consequences of the latter.

Instead of telling about 'Gandhi',it would be more appropriate if you please give your opinion on "speaking truth only".

The more we defend ourselves with lies we become more weak; on the other hand if we have courage (which unfortunately we don't have always) to speak the truth irrespective of its consequence it make us mentally stronger.
