Okay... So, I know I kind of dissappeared off the face of the planet for a while, but I had very good reason. I had my gallbladder taken out and then I had a show open 4 weeks later. Needless to say i was busy.
Anyway, I started this thread and I'm glad that it's still going. I was interested in dating a 42 year old and all my friends said he was too old for me and my parents thought it was cool. How's that for strange? |

Your parents sound more enlightened than your friends -- and that's pretty scary!
Or maybe you just got lucky in the parental department....! Anyway, good to see you back here! You know, there are only about 6 of us in the whole state who know how to post on this thing....! |

My age spread is ten years above me and ten years below.

I think sometimes your better off not to listen to your friends..I think I would be interested in what my parents thought. So, hows it going anyway?? Besides, 42 isn't old at all..they say todays 40's are like yesterdays 20's.
I think if you like him...you should try it out...you never know til you try it |

That's ok. I'm a 35 year old woman who has fallen hard for a 19 year old guy. I don't care what people say about it. It's none of their business. He is legal. We are both adults and although it's a big age difference, it is what it is. I didn't go out looking for this. It just happened.

OGD -- Exactly, if the two of you like each other, then it's nobody's business, period!
And best of luck! |

Thank you.

OGD...Heres how I feel about it, if you were a man and you fell for a woman~~no one would look twice at you!! I say who cares, if you like this person, go for it!! I wish you all the luck and don't let anyone tell you hes to young for you!!
Good luck |

I'd date an older woman, why not?

As I've said before... age doesn't matter.
Oh, and I've been fine. Since my surgey I've been feeling much better and getting back to my normal schedule. |

I prefer youger men they are likely to go camping & hiking with me. They have lots of energy, and don't worry too much about making a fool of themselves.

I also prefer to date younger men..not sure why, we just seem to get along better. That doesn't mean I would be close minded on dating older men though, after all, age really is just a number!!!

and how about me..well, i prefero date with olderguys..maybe because, i see father-like image in them..which i dont hve..or shall i say..which i dont have ANYMORE

I don't think it should matter... If you both click with one another, that should be all that matters...

I agree with gunthorr...if you put a restriction on things like age, you might just pass up the one you were meant to be with.

Older women younger men! Older men Younger women?
I was married 17 years to a lady almost 11 years older than I. (Sadly widowed now) I was 17 she was almost 28. Dating someone older and younger has its complications by any means. But the real key to success is the same as any relationship... Communication.. But with the age spread gettting bigger.. a few more things come to bear... The most important is communication.. communication.. laugh! also .. being able to comprimise, Listening not just hearing. Appreciation for your mate and expressing it. There are the same things for normal age commited relationships.. One may just find in the age spread difference relationships.. There more doomed to failure if dont really love and commit to making it work.. There are social pressures, familiy and friends pressures.. society pressures. Why most these relationships fail.. Simple.. reason... (NO Commitment, no dedication, no perseverance.) |

You know, my father married a much younger woman..19 years younger. I truly believe they had a great marriage then one day my father went to work and got hurt and came home 3 months later a totally different man. He suffered from a severe head injury that really messed up his thinking.
When he finally left the hospital he kept saying that he didn't love my step-mother any more. He swore that he hadn't loved her for a very long time. He said that she was being married to his daughter, she was immature. I do believe that the only time you would really notice the "age gap" is if you were ready to retire and then something major happened. Would you mate be willing to stay there and take care of you? When all of this happened I had to really stop and wonder if I would date someone younger or older for that matter. It kind of makes you stop and think that maybe just maybe you should stick with someone your own age group~~but then again, they could get hurt too. Sometimes I wonder if dating is even worth it at all. I have wonderful friends, supportive family, and great kids..plus I wake up every single morning~~~what more do I need??? |
