Heather if it's the kind of the yellow tarp thing that you can buy in almost any kids dept, then don't. There have been more people paralyzed by "nose-diving" down those things, and injuring their C 1-3 (Cervical) vertebrae. I have had one of those in my yard. There's an age limit on it. It's only for children. I didn't know about the injuries. Yikes! |

We are going to a birthday party today. My friend has constructed a 100 ft. slip and slide down a huge hill in her yard. It's the real deal.....trenched out, sand underneath and you end up in a 3 foot deep pool of water at the bottom! I love water slides and all, but I prefer the controlled ones where you know you aren't gonna come tumbling out or whatever. On vacation my daughter and I went down a few of those together and I somehow managed to "hurt" myself each time I went. Toes getting bent backward, elbows scraping the walls the whole way down, etc. etc. Now for the question.... Do I take a turn on this thing....or watch! I'm not really sure I want to spend my 40th birthday next week on crutches..... Also, how old are you and would you do it? |

I opted out tonight as there was a whole crowd of people there including one very handsome man. I was having a decent hair day and didn't want to ruin it..... A couple of the other women and I decided we will have a girls night with drinks and slip and slide at a later date.

" Looking good " and looking the way you look when you are having fun are sometimes mutually exclusive. LOL |

Do it.
This last winter, my hat blew off and bounced over the roof of my Jeep into the darkness. It's a Stetson, my favorite hat. It's snowing, very cold and Damn it I am not losing this hat. Sooooooooo...I scramble down the the snowy/icy embankment to the river where I see my hat floating, grab a branch fish my hat out after a few attempts, this is while walking along the embankment, knock the water off, put the hat on my head and climb back up. After I get back in my Jeep, I thought "Wow, that was stupid, you could have slipped and fallen, twisted or broken something, landed in the icy waters of the river, all for the stupid hat" Upon further reflection I thought, "Dude, you still got it" |

I'm not a fan of water but a slide why not, I'm 46 and if I break my back so be it, gotta have fun in life no matter the consequences. Don't do it if you think you'll get hurt because you probably will, but do it to have fun and enjoy your slide down and get wet. Wet woman are always a good thing in my book |

i've always been something of a water nut. the most fun, and best memories, i've had usually have to do with water.
my kids usually tell me to grow up, so i try to tone it down a bit. but i most definitely would have been involved in that slide - looks like much fun! |
