Topic: Slip and Slide! | |
---|---|
We are going to a birthday party today. My friend has constructed a 100 ft. slip and slide down a huge hill in her yard. It's the real deal.....trenched out, sand underneath and you end up in a 3 foot deep pool of water at the bottom!
I love water slides and all, but I prefer the controlled ones where you know you aren't gonna come tumbling out or whatever. On vacation my daughter and I went down a few of those together and I somehow managed to "hurt" myself each time I went. Toes getting bent backward, elbows scraping the walls the whole way down, etc. etc. Now for the question.... Do I take a turn on this thing....or watch! I'm not really sure I want to spend my 40th birthday next week on crutches..... Also, how old are you and would you do it? |

Apparently the guy that helped build it is in his 50's I think and he cracked a rib test driving it... Supposedly it's better now.

Last time I got on a slip and slide I kept slipping and was flat on my back and hit my head pretty hard, everyone laughed of course. It freaking hurt, I haven't done it since. I am 48 but I was probably 45 when I did that.

Heather if it's the kind of the yellow tarp thing that you can buy in almost any kids dept, then don't. There have been more people paralyzed by "nose-diving" down those things, and injuring their C 1-3 (Cervical) vertebrae.

This sounds like something we'll see later on America's Funniest Home Videos! I'll try to take pictures today! It should be interesting. She lives on a huge hill as she is situated right next door to the ski mountain (It's ohio, it's small). The pool of water is in between a grove of pine trees. Makes me nervous just thinking about it. |
