Topic: When you cook on the grill | |

Most people like the taste of charcoal. Gas is much easier, cleaner.

Is there a difference in taste while grilling the food with either one or the other? Haven't used charcoal for awhile. There is definitely a difference. To me, being single and only cooking for myself, gas is the way to go. I can fire up the grill and do up a couple of hot dogs in about 5 minutes. Then I turn the grill off. Can't do that with charcoal. I actually do prefer to use charcoal. It's just not cost effective for me to use it. |

Either one, but whats funny that I was talking about with my mom last night was how my dad never would allow the lighter fluid to cook off before he cooked.. mmmm ever had a lighter fluid burger? Ewwww. Was your dad one of those guys that waits, and waits, and waits to put the stuff on the grill??? My cousin used to do that all the time. He would wind up with half cooked chicken because he waited too long to put it on the grill and the coals pretty much went out before the food was done. I just shake my head at him all the time.. yeahhhh... wierd red veiny chicken... and hed insist we eat it.. Bbq as a child lovingly refered to as (crying day) it was either not wait.. or wait to long... |

Its ok, Ive made a awesome memory that i can reflect apon I access evertime he pisses me off.. Once.. he asked me to give him a haircut, and he kept asking me to cut it shorter and shorter in the back, barking at me like an ass.. so i did, and he ended up with like a "Shemp" from the 3 stooges haircut.. Everyone at his job called him that for weeks. Priceless! ha ha! |

Although. Charcoal itself isn't all that tasty. It's MUCH better to cook stuff OVER the charcoal...when the charcoal is actually burning of course. |

About the only way to explain it is that food cooked over charcoal gains a bit of the " smoky " flavor from the coals. Unlike gas which doesn't actually create smoke. |

Charcoal, gas, wood grill, electric stove...doesn't matter. If you are a good cook...you can work with anything.

I have used both. I prefer charcoal.

I have used both. I prefer charcoal. I think that just about everyone that barbeques on a regular basis prefers charcoal. |

Dose anyone know how to barbeque chicken, without burning it? Yep. Low and slow. Keep a spray bottle of water handy to keep flare ups in check and your chicken will turn out very nicely done and very juicy. |
