If it's a newer motor it might have an electronic ignition of some sort.

Get your girlfreind to hold the saprk plug up close to the engine block. Pull the cord or turn the key. She will let you know if it's hot.

Are you setting in the seat.
All riders have saftey switches, make sure all levers are in position for starting.
either of the above will not allow it to start.
Do you have a manual?
Highly reccommend one.

Good advise, for somebody who's never operated one before, but I think he has.

That's the size of Angel's riding lawnmower that won't start. I have given it new gas, new plugs, new battery, and new fuel filter and the friggin thing turns over but is getting no fire. Any suggestions. Let me guess......points.........lol hoping it's not that.
It needs a beer bong!!!! Beer bongs have long been known to start any major appliance!!!drinker

I think Durty called it...sounds like the magneto.....(I did 10 years pro lawn service...) if you have checked everything and it ain't a cut or loose wire or got a dinged up kill switch...it is the magneto.

Okay, when he said it wasn't getting any fire I assumed he just ment it didn't start. He needs to check the basics, spark and fuel, and see which one it is.

He knows what he says. This is the real world. Don't forget to check the kill switch. Many a mag has been replaced only to find out it was just a bad switch. Some mag switches are just a bent piece of metal that grounds the mag preventing any spark. Anything that grounds the mag stops the spark.
