Why did Jesus fold the linen burial cloth after His resurrection then?
The Gospel of John (20:7) tells us that the napkin, which was placed over the face of Jesus, was not just thrown aside like the grave clothes. The Bible takes an entire verse to tell us that the napkin was neatly folded, and was placed at the head of that stony coffin. Early Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, 'They have taken the Lord's body out of the tomb, and I don't know where they have put him!' Peter and the other disciple ran to the tomb to see. The other disciple ran faster than Peter and got there first. He stopped and looked in and saw the linen cloth lying there, but he didn't go in. Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus' head was folded up and lying to the side. Was that important? Absolutely! Is it really significant? Yes! In order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you have to understand a little bit about Hebrew tradition of that day. The folded napkin had to do with the Master and Servant, and every Jewish boy knew this tradition. When the servant set the dinner table for the master, he made sure that it was exactly the way the master wanted it. The table was furnished perfectly, and then the servant would wait, just out of sight, until the master had finished eating, and the servant would not dare touch that table, until the master was finished. Now if the master were done eating, he would rise from the table, wipe his fingers, his mouth, and clean his beard, and would wad up that napkin and toss it onto the table. The servant would then know to clear the table. For in those days, the wadded napkin meant, 'I'm done'. But if the master got up from the table, and folded his napkin, and laid it beside his plate, the servant would not dare touch the table, because........... The folded napkin meant, 'I'm coming back!' Jesus spoke metaphorically before he spoke plainly many times so that later we could understand his meaning more clearly. His actions all held deeper meaning for us all as well. After he rose again, just that simple act of folding the cloth and not the grave clothes had greater significance. He WILL return, and all that is foretold in the book of Revelation will come to pass. Do we have free will? Absolutely. But with that free will comes the choice of whom you will follow as you can only serve one master. The end days will come and those who have chosen to follow the king of all lies, the serpant, the Devil will carry the mark of the beast rather than the seal of our Lord. He who is King of Kings and Lord or Lords shall triumph over him. Though honestly, no one really knows when exactly the end days will come to pass and so to dwell on such things rather than to fulfill the plan which God has for each of you is an act of futility and quite fruitless to say the least. Rather, I'd implore you to live each day to its fullest doing as the Holy Spirit guides you and to model your life and actions after Jesus Christ! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I would have you not ignorant of one thing, one day with the Lord is 1000 years and 1000 years 1 day so 2000 years would only be as 2 days to our Lord. As far as end times ,yes we are in the last days. The generation of the fig tree Jesus spoke of im Matthew is when Israel once again became a nation and that started in 1948. We are in the end times and its a fact by Jesus own words. There will be a great falling away first and the way God is being ripped from the USA is the great falling away that will make way for a one world system of the antichrist. Anyone that cant see these things dont have eyes to see or ears to hear.I will right scripture and verse when i come back to this thread so no one feels i am throwing my own opinions around, im just stating facts.

The thing is, those who do not believe will not see it, but if you believe, you will see that it's coming and has been for quite some time. I'm not sure if there's a time frame, but I don't think there's a set date, but when certain things happen, it will pave the way for other things. |

The important thing Jacob is to keep watch! Sounds like you're doing that. Matthew 24 42"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. Matthew 25 1Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. 2And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: 4But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. 6And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. 7Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. 8And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 9But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. 10And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. 11Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. 12But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. 13Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. oh i have, they already have plans to put microchips in our hands(mark of the beast!). reality is sometimes not what it seems, these people control everything, our money, the media, music we listen to, and our minds. theres tons of information on the internet. go search now! they cant control that! The mark on the forehead is better translated, in the forehead, or your "mind" and on the hand is those that will "work" for him or his ways. The Beast of the end times is the "Political, Financial, Educational and Religious entities. |
