Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our
likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree, of life, and eat, and live forever: I think the word "us" in both verses is interesting. |

Jesus gave up His life because He knew that's what God had in mind for
Him. He knew what His purpose was here on this earth, and it certainly wasn't to be that of a martyr. |

genesis has 3 different authors , there are other problems to for example the days in one its like he makes man on the 6th day one 2nd day ... the concept of time and what a day is before time is made... the fact that he brings animals for adam to decide a mate from, and therefore women is put on that same scale, theres the fact there are a "them" vs making man and then women from mans rib, gen 1 and 2 creation myths are different but society readiliy accepts gen 2 it backs up patriarchy 1)In the 9th century in the Southern Kingdom of Judea the Jahwist (J) creates Genesis 2-3 2. In the 8th century in the Northern Kingdom of Israel the Elohist (E) created Genesis 1 3. The Priestly (P) author in the 5th century is known not for writing but for combining Genesis 1 with Genesis 2-3, and adding in bits and pieces to the stories to try to make them more congruent. |

“I think the word "us" in both verses is interesting.” Back in those days it was very common to belief that were many gods. Everything was magic. People had absolutely no scientific understanding of how things worked. Even something as simple as wind was a mystical thing to them. They had no explanation for what caused wind. Storms were often viewed as a sign that the gods were angry about something. So it was very common for people back then to believe that there were many gods in charge of all the differnet facets of the earth. Yet at the same time they would also have the ‘God of gods”. The one main deity that was the highest most god. So to see the authors of Genesis referring to God as saying “Let ‘us’ make man in ‘our’ image and ‘our’ likeness” is not surprising at all because that’s how the authors would have viewed their gods. |

"WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE WATER HOLY?"
Sorry AB. I thought your question had already been answered. Here's my answer. Holy water is just a symbolic religous tradition. The only thing that makes the water 'holy' is the fact that some priest or preacher is using it for a holy ceremony. |

So in reality it is just water that some dude waved his hand over and
perhaps breathed on? Then why call it holy? |

Oh boy....
AB.....from the debating and re-qualifying and the classifying...and de-classifying, and the quoting and misquoting... I come to the conclusion... No-one knows, nor can read.. What the F*ck is holy water??? Does it come by the tanker? I could do with some here...the garden looks a little piqued. |

Thank, James. I was wondering about the difference of the tree of life
and the tree of good and evil. Evidently they were two separate trees. When in the text the Serpent says you will not surely die. Then they were run out before they could eat from the tree of life. I mean the Serpent gives you the impression that they would become as gods. The Serpent mentions more than one god. What would have happened if they had ate from the tree of life first before eating from the tree of good and evil? |

Holy water is spring water, not from a bottle. Also added to it can be a
little salt (kosher). Holy water was used[in ancient pre-christian times]. Holy water, is "water blessed by the priest or holy man, with solemn prayer, to beg God's blessing on those who use it, and protection from the powers of darkness." Water is a symbol of interior cleansing. Water is the natural element for cleansing, and hence its use was common in almost every ancient faith, to denote interior purification. Kat |

Oops, I forgot something.
Salt is a natural cleanser, stain remover. The salt is used for various reasons. It is used -- to help to wash away the stains of sin, to quench the fire of our passions, to preserve us from relapses into sin. Kat |

"jean what the heck do you think jesus was... he gave up his life for
his beliefs.. if jesus wouldn't have continued to preach he was " king" and pee of the romans and the jews he would never have been killed he died for his beliefs!!!!!!!!" Do you think that anyone would willingly endure the horrible suffering He went through on the cross to be remembered as a martry, as a man who "died for his beliefs?" He had a specific purpose when God sent Him to this Earth, and that was to shed His blood so that mankind would be saved from its sins. He continued to "pee off" the Romans and the Jews because He knew that was all part of God's plan. He knew His life on this earth was nearing its end. Jesus Christ, the man, did not want to endure this suffering; He did not want to die. He even asked God, "Father, why hast thou forsaken Me?" He understood His death was inevitable; he knew it was His destiny from the time he was a child. What Jesus Christ endured on that cross and what happened after that goes far beyond someone simply "giving up their life for their beliefs." |
