Topic: Replying to compliments, is it really that hard? | |
---|---|
I never expect and answer back, it is welcome if they do but it is not the reason I would compliment someone through an email. I say it or write it because I like to say nice things and because I want to. hear hear A compliments not much good if the giver has ulterior motives. |

Dating sites online make communication between guys and girls so much easier, especially if u are shy. dont you just hate it when ur browsin profiles and you see someone that u think is very attractive and that u like their profile, but when u send them a compliment on their looks and things you like about their profile and they dont even as much as send a thankyou email back? i hate when i compliment someone on their looks and they snap at me for it. i'm sorry to have pointed out the burden that you're blessed with an attractive quality. |

If someone compliments another based soley on their physical appearance... well really that person has no control over that. If someone thinks I am ugly, or pretty... well, that was a genetic thing and is subject to their interpretation.
Now if I get a version of that, for example, a person likes my hairsyle or the way I apply my make-up or whatever... that is more sincere to me. But as far as just looks? No. I'm more than how I appear. Saying a woman is pretty or sexy or whatever... that is shallow. And really, not worth replying to. But if a man reads my profile and talks about what I said, and possibly mentions a compliment on my appearance, I would take that with more sincerity than just a compliment on my outward appearance. |

No I don't browse profiles normally hang out in the forums and don't post pics, so there goes that idea. But it would be common courtesy to expect a response however, just don't sit there waiting for one If you get one great! If not his/her loss and move on. good luck |

I agree i can be a little bit jaded when accepting compliments, they do place a person in an uncomfortable situation, but I still try and say thank you. If they really are sincere, I don't wish to be rude. If they aren't I only lost a little bit of oxygen saying, THANK YOU.

I always respond to compliments

...However, I do think many women tend to not take compliments well anymore these days, mostly because I believe they think most men have an ulterior motive. Not many guys today can say, "Hey, I like your outfit," without getting a raised eyebrow in return, like, "Whaddya want? If you're looking for sex, keep looking."
Personally, that isn't my reason. For the most part, I like to be told that I look good and, if the comment is sincere, I am gracious about accepting it. Granted, my current profile isn't written to encourage someone to write to me; however, before I met Robin, there was enough in there, about my interests, my personality, what I was looking for, what I wanted out of life, etc. that a person could have written on any number of subjects. Instead most of the email I ever received consisted of 'hey sexy', or something similar. Occasionally I'd even write those people back and ask them how they knew I was sexy, as sexy is more a perception (in my mind) than a physical quality. Even that never encouraged any conversation on their part. |

Define compliment.
I usually respond to the respectful ones and say "Thank you." |

I just dont write anymore even if I think they are perfect for me. Trying to say the right thing making sure everything is right and then Nothing. I just cruse the sites thats all. That was my experience, too. Now I figure if they want to talk to me, they can initiate it. |

[ Im ment to be lone thats all and Im ok with that. Then you might just be robbing some wonderful woman of a great guy! I believe you are MOST worthy. Hang tough, don't give up, just be patient, Mike. Oh, and back on topic: I will answer any gesture that seems sincere and thoughtful. I will break communication that oversteps respectful boundaries. |
