So by your logic since I’m also a non-believer in Christianity and you are a Christian I can now hold you directly responsible for ALL those that were murdered as Witches during "the burning times?" Gotcha...

Between this thread and the one that Tribo has started, I don't see any spokes persons for the holy spirit coming forward to answer his simple question.

JB
God and the Holy Spirit have far more important things going on than answering trivia questions

That is just a lame excuse.

JB

No! Its true!

They have the fluff in their collective navels to organise. Then they have Rev & Mrs Jones coming up for tea - nothing but the best china for Mrs J. (the woman knows no shame)

So, Im sorry, no time for answering dumb questions like "Why does half of Africa have no food, when the majority of the US & Europe has a surplus?"

No you cant!!

Because god works in mysterious ways and it was his word that condemned thousands of innocent women to their deaths!
Its all part of the celestial plan

The puritans burned witches because they weren't too bright and believed in witches and goblins and superstition.

I haven't tried to say christians are perfect, never will. No man is perfect, never will be.

most of what we like to blame on GOD should be squarely placed on mens shoulders.

didn't mean to tick JB off, she just gets off on all this bickering and discontent, thrives on it even, or so it seems at times, she has as much right to her beliefs as I do mine or you do yours

No I don’t know what you are talking about and it would behoove you sir not to pretend as if everyone does. No, I did not live back in 1692 in Salem, Mass. Thank goodness. However I do not subscribe to any Judeo-Christian based religious source now in 2008. So the statement offered was "people like me and JB who are non-Christians are responsible for the crucifixion of Christ."

Well sir, "Christians like you" living in New England 1692 (where I currently reside now incidentally) were involved in some very serious crimes against humanity. The accusations of witchcraft and the subsequent executions were an extreme expression of deeply felt moral divisions. The negative references to witchcraft in the Bible and the belief that witchcraft was Satan's work created a paralyzing fear of witchcraft which made it a natural vehicle for the hostility of the community.

I suppose you can understand how your statement might have been misunderstood.

Only Christians are responsible for the crucifixion of Christ.

Supposely he was sacrificed by God on purpose to pay for the sins of those who are willing to accept that payment.

Those who are not willing to accept that Christ was crucified to pay for their sins are offering to pay for their own sins.

So non-believers are actually completely and totally free from any responsibility for the crucifixion of Christ because they do not accept that act having been done on their behalf.

It is the very act of accepting Christ's sacrifice to pay for their sins that Christians pound in the nails that crucify him.

If no one would accept Christ as their savior then no one would be responsible for his crucifixion.

After all, even the Romans who were used by God to nail Christ to the cross weren't guilty. Clearly they had no choice in the matter. After all, God sent his son via a virgin birth for the express purpose of being nailed to a cross to become the sacrificial lamb of God.

Therefore the actual Roman's who nailed Christ to the cross were actually doing God's will as this was HIS PLAN!

That's assuming that you believe in this particular mythology. The whole thing was PLANNED by God from the virgin birth to the crucifixion to the resurrection.

No human could be held responsible for God's PLAN.

The only people who can possibly be blamed for that act would be anyone who dares to accept that it was done for their sake!

If no one would accept it then God would be stuck with total responsiblity for it. After all, he can't very well blame people who aren't even willing to go along with such brutal madness.

Amen Abra!

Christianity is a pagan blood cult. It is a copy of the cult of Mithra who still sacrifices a bull and baths in the blood of that bull to purify their sins.

I am not and never have been a participant of any blood cult nor do I accept any sacrifice for my crimes or sins.

The word "sin" is strictly defined within religious doctrine and it means disobedience to the Almighty Lord and Master. The punishment for disobedience is death.

"The wages of sin is death."

This is the law to the followers of the alien Gods who kept humans as slaves. Obey thy master or die. It is a cult that claims that all have sinned and come short of the glory of their master. Therefore all are sitting on death row.

UNLESS you accept the sacrifice of this man which will absolve you of all responsibility for your sins.

All who accept the sacrifice will be saved. All who accept the sacrifice are responsible for the crucification. They reap the benefit according to the myth.

Then they dare turn to those who don't believe in the myth or accept the sacrifice and tell them that they are the ones responsible for the crucification.

Such hypocrisy!

The New Testament is a sham. The truth of that alone will set you free.

glasses Paganism is defined as “praying to a whole bunch of different stupid crap instead of just acting on one delusional head-trip.” Typically this is a form of religious worship for people who can’t make up their mind. Or they are so overwhelmed with every detail of their existence they can only attribute every single said detail to a corresponding divinity rather than just accept that **** happens. glasses

glasses When Gardner invented neopaganism, he just put it together from all the bits he liked from the Penguin Library of Mythology. So Wicca has bits of Northern Italian folklore, bits of the Magick of Aleister Crowley (mainly Jewish mysticism), bits of Greek elemental symbolism (Thales, 500BC) and the whole thing suffused with a miasma of "Celtic" imagery, referring to a gang of Austrian savages who ended up in Galicia, with no culture, only the most extremely dubious historical provenance and the most tenuous of connections to the people who walk round calling each other "Celts" today. Plus a load of ritual nudity which was very certainly never in the originals. It says something that Scientology and Wicca were invented at roughly the same time; while the American Hubbard came up with a money-making machine that has a proven record of effecting miracle narcotics addiction cures, the best the Brits could come up with was a Carry on Camping version of the Bacchanalia we all learn in third year Latin.

Not only that, but the main creed of the "neopagan" movement is "An it hurt none, do as you will", which plagiarises Crowley, smuggles a bit of Chaucerian Middle English into a supposedly pre-Christian tradition and directly contradicts the two things we know for certain about the actually existing pagans; a) that they had many ritual taboos, so they didn't think "do as you will" and b) that they didn't care about hurting people. It is no exaggeration to say that the main works of Celtic literature are almost entirely concerned with the subject of killing other people and stealing their cows. When they don't deal with the equally mystical and spiritual subject of getting drunk and waking up in a ditch. glasses
