havent done a good deed yet the day is to early

well actually i had a 5 pound pound note in my

sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. I want one of those

My good deed for the day. I already blew my first chance. Actually, that wasn't an opportunity to do a good deed, just a chance not to act like a total asshole. It is only 7:30am though, I may have another stab at it, yet.

you shouldnt judge just because hes homeless it doesnt make him alcoholic, i couldnt smell any booze on him at all. dont be so quick to judge
Many homeless people are mentally ill. I am finding out now why that is, looking for options for my daughter. I was basically told that once she is an adult, I can let her live with me or put her on the streets. They tell me there are no other options for mentally ill adults. Sad.

that is sad, and im very sorry:heart: . thats why i said to the other poster dont be so quick to judge, just because soneones homeless it doesnt make them a druggie or a alcoholic, as youve expressed it can be for many reasons. flowerforyou flowerforyou
All of us are often quick to judge. I think it is our nature.

maybe, but i never thought once he was a alcoholic. until ive got proof i try my best not to judge.

There is definitely a huge gap in our health care system in this area. Some mentally challenged adults do reside in nursing homes or group homes, would that be an option for your daughter? I don't mean to be pry or be too personal, just inquiring.
no you are not prying; my life is pretty much an open book, Robin. For some reason she is not quite in the right niche for a group home, they tell me; and not sick enough for the state hospital. She is in kind of a twilight zone. She is too high functioning, I guess; but ill nonetheless. I will fight for a group home if it comes to it; but the case worker told me what I said above - home or the streets. What a thing to tell a distraught mom.

Anyway, I don't mean to hijack this thread.

I don't mean to be a buzz kill here...but, Debbie, I grew up near and area where a lot of homeless live under bridges and on park benches, and have befriended many. My family has had those we felt we knew somewhat for Thanksgiving and Christmas in our home. But when taking one of these homeless men, that we knew, dinner in a tupperware one evening, he physically attacked me. I was 15 and had thought we were friends since he'd been in my home and prayed with my family.

I am not saying that any or all would do this...but desperate people are capable of desperate acts and some are homeless for mental reasons that may not be obvious when talking to them for even weeks. This is even sadder than a man down on his luck.

From then on, I have not approached a homeless person alone and hope that you will proceed with caution and highly recommend having someone with you when you do so in the future. I too still enjoy trying to make a small difference in someone's day who is down on their luck, as I feel we are all neighbors here on this earth and would like to think if it were my son, someone would hand him a blessing now and then.

On my drive to Minneapolis from Atlanta, I stayed at a hotel in Kentucky where I saw a man lying on a bus stop bench in front of McDonalds. I had a couple of men traveling with me, and we bought him a breakfast sandwich, coffee and juice along with a couple of muffins and waters for later.

I remember thinking, there is no way for us to know his situation, and for all we did know, he was a drunk that had been kicked out on his ear for being hateful to his wife the night before. laugh But anyone who wakes up on a bus bench in the morning has had a bad night at the very least. Even mean drunks need to know that kindness still exists...it may even make him realize he needs to work on that temper.

So I'm not saying anything bad about giving a smile to one in need at all, just PLEASE be very careful especially just before it turns cold, as after my incident, the police informed me that sometimes desperate people will attack someone hoping to be thrown in jail for the winter months just for the food and shelter. Feeling defenseless on the streets for a while can twist the mind of otherwise civil people to that extreme, I suppose.

I didn't mean to get so long winded about this. It is just something I am extremely passionate about. Caution your kindness dear! flowerforyou

yes..the love of my life used to stop and help everyone he saw broken down on the road..he would go so far as to get off the highway and get back on to help someone on the other side..I always worried that one day he would pay with his life for his kindness.

I am sure he still does it..I just don't hear about it anymore.

I am helping hijack now...but I had a thought late last night when I got an email from a friend back home about her highly ADD son. I know it's not the same thing exactly, but he has come down on his prescription doses steadily since she has been having him do some alternative therapies.

I will have to ask her which she believes is making the biggest difference, but know he's had some regular acupuncture and massage therapies. She tells me she didn't know what else to do with him, and saw many new studies showing huge benefits for various disorders and chemical imbalances in this kind of treatment, in her internet search for any options she'd not yet tried. flowerforyou

That sounds great! I hope she will go. I believe there is an answer for her just waiting to happen Hiker! I'm praying you find it soon for sure!

It never hurts to give things a shot if there seem to be no straight answers. Wolf has me looking into a clinic near him for a shoulder injury that my Doc insists needs surgery, but cannot tell me exactly why. huh I will try anything before getting cut on without knowing why! Wolf is a pretty tricky fella, huh? laugh  smooched

I'm about to go out and do my good deed, by socializing kittens! its a real job too, its not just playing with kittens for hours on end, noooo, you have to grin and bare it when they claw into your skin and hiss and growl. But they are kittens so its cute when they try to act fierce happy

Hey umm...Debbie...if you come to my house I'll do a good deed for you devil
