Good Job Buttons. Keep up the good work and before you know it it will be 120 days, then 365 and then you start counting in years. I sure hope you do not start again.

Buttons is absolutely spot on. You should want to stop and no one can help you but yourself
You can have support in time of cravings but you must want to do it bad before you stop Good Luck |

I quit when I signed up to the army (18), although I didn't really smoke , that you'd call smoking, but having a few each day, maybe a pack a week. So it wasn't too hard, but here comes at the age of 28, I fell back, because I had a terrible time with my life at that time and I was escaping and I light up one day...then it went to 2, 3...and so on.
It's funny though, at certain places (together with non-smokers) I don't smoke, it doesn't even pop into my mind. As soon as I get to other places tough..driving or walking around somewhere or at my house I get the urge really bad. I'm gonna quit now forever, I know myself I can do it, but my past 2-3 years were full of tragedies and misfortune so I was thinking of quitting but other reasons were wrecking me. So I know how to do it, I was a success at 1st try 14 years ago so I see no problem again doing it, I just have to be able to concentrate again, since I'm single again and I am slowly healing after all the crap that was going on in my life. |

If you read the very first post in this topic it says that one thing to do is to avoid getting to situations that smoking is the norm such as sitting on the couch after a meal watching TV which is generally followed by a light up Instead go for a brisk walk or something else to divert the focus on smoking Any way to all of you Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year |

Fell off the wagon again about a month ago. Got back under control 5 days ago. I just keep jumping back on the wagon. I had a terrible problem and it doesnt matter what it was, lets just say it was bad enough to make me want to light up after being clean for 3 mo.
I have made the decision to try again and again until I get this right. My problem is hard situations and I cant have just one cig. I always end up with a pack by the end of the day. So 5 days is encouraging to me. It much easier this time for some reason. The chantix has always helped me stop but after you finish it, it is up to me to stay smoke free. Everyone keep your determination no matter what and do whatever works for you no matter the cost. Do what you can in your head and what helps you quit. COPD, chronic brochitis and asthma are not fun. 5 days and I already feel the difference in my lungs like I always do. Everytime I want a cig I just tell myself, I DONT SMOKE ANYMORE. Merry Christmas! |
