well, for what it's worth, 6 days in and doing fine.

Congrats. I'm doing ok now. The hardest for me is in the mornings when drinking coffee. Tomorrow at 11:30am will be a week since I've smoked. I'd of probably caved in by now but my little girl tells me I smell better since I quitlaugh
I hope she's talking about the smokey smelllaugh

No one seems to bother to quit I wish they realized how bad it is for their own health to smoke

You've inspired me thanx Robert. I quit about 5 times in the past year using Nicotine Inhalers, the Patch and gum( ewww sick )and then finally Chantix. Wow i stopped smoking but then I wanted to commit suicide... (one of many side affects).

Stop taking chantix and now im smoking again. Your definitely helped me out i guess im gonna have to do that exercise regimen u mentioned. Plus i wanna go to Europe next year and i think i may have to start that wellness fund you mentioned.

flowerforyou Thank you so much flowerforyou

I find that all the while it was only a state of mind that had to be conquered and not a physical state

Most people actually enjoy cigarettes and that is why it is hard to give up

In order to start hating cigarettes it helps if you can hate a person who smokes

I know it is harsh thing to say but that helps because the ball and the chain gets associated with the hated person and one wishes to distant oneself from the hated one. If you see what I am going with that.
I must say in my case I hated myself as the smoker and that helped a lot.

Good luck
Keep posting we are all here and will be with you

Kept falling on my face but have made it 8 weeks this time. I really want to encourage those who may have fallen off the wagon.

Those who have jumped back on and those who haven't. Those who have, please jump back in here and encourage those who haven't.

We all know it isn't easy or we wouldn't have this thread for support, eh? Those of you who haven't fallen off the wagon, awsome job.

For those of us who have, don't beat yourself up. It only makes it harder to start over. There is no shame in that starting over.

I've smoked for about 25 yrs off and on. Stopped while preggo and had a brief stint for a couple of yrs, but for the most part I started when i was 12 too. Keep it up Girl! You're doing fine and you will feel great when all this is over and you dont even think of it anymore. Have you looked into chantix? It is what helped me quit. Ask your Dr about it if you dont already know. it is a wonder drug if I ever saw one. Keep up the good work. Sorry things feel like they are falling in on you, but keep your resolve in this and you can look back and know that you can do anything if you could stop smoking through all this crap!drinker

I just wanted to say congrats to everyone has stopped smoking. I am a former smoker. I am 59 years old and also have COPD. I was diagnoised with COPD about 20 years ago, it was mild then but got worse. I somked about 2 and a half packs a day. I started smoking when I was a teen and continued until I was 50. I quit with the help of Zyban and have been soke free now for 9 and 1/2 years. It is hard but you just have to not give in to the craving and believe me they will be there fr a long time. I am also still not on oxgyen and hope I never will have to be.

Sorry to hear about your COPD Don. I was diagnosed last year and it hit me like a ton of bricks. It is one of the main reasons I have quit. Many health problems and the cost were killing me. Im glad to hear you have had such sucess and thanks for the kudo's.

Thank you and you keep up the good work. I am sure you will beat this addition. I also like the money I save n the cigarettes. My wife still smoked after I quit. I managed to not give in and she would not smoke in the same room I was in. Unfortunalely she passed away in 2006 from a heart attack. My youngest child is 22 so I need to be around awhile for her.

3lb of weight don't worry but don't let it get worse. This is due to substituting a snack for a cigarette. Drink water instead.
Any time you feel like a smoke put your running shoes on shorts and T shirt go for a run or a brisk walk . That normally gets rid of the craving as well as the 3 lb extra. Do not substitutes snacks specially sweet stuff for a cigarette

Good luck Buttons
