If they're too far off base, Spider, just ignore 'em. Some folks are trying to be deliberately provocative. If you lose your temper, they've won/proved their point or whatever. The Lord'll defend himself and we don't have to do it. Our role is to be peacemakers: to present our side of things and respect other's viewpoints so we can learn from each other and (hopefully) grow, though in my case it's doubtful, very doubtful! Thank you for the advice, but why did Jesus and the apostles argue (DEFINTION 2, just so you don't get confused) for the Christian way? What about those who straddle the fense and when someone says something negative about God, Jesus or the Bible it goes undefended by Christians? What should that person think? No, I think I will follow what Jesus and the apostles did and correct those who lie about the truth, there are more important things than being right or liked. |

I did not lie about you, not once. Prove it. That would take a great deal of work. I would have to go through every post I have ever posted here to show that I don't attack people for having different beliefs. So no, I won't do that. But the burden belongs to YOU. You are the accuser, you have accused me of many things, but refused to prove your accusations to be the truth. If you refuse to back your accusations up with facts, then your accusations are rejected by any court of law. |

Sorry. Didn't mean to offend. I do find the whole thing kind of humorous, though. What's rule #9? You did not offend me. You are just not as dead serious as Spider. He wants everyone to be as stone cold serious as he is. Lighten up Spider, just for a little while. We mean no harm. Really. I think you are awesome. I just don't think you should be so serious. But if it makes you happy, so be it. I am going to play now. It's recess time. JeannieBean, I try to take serious subjects seriously. I have a great sense of humor if I must say so myself. Have you ever had a boyfriend who didn't take anything seriously? Who was making jokes when you were trying to have a serious discussion with him? That's wrong and insensitive. If a subject is serious, it should be treated as such. That has been an accepted social more for thousands of years. This is serious to you. Not necessarily so to us. Who determines the proper level of seriousness in this instance? |

This is serious to you. Not necessarily so to us. Who determines the proper level of seriousness in this instance? Soceity does. That is why they are called social mores. Like I said, I'm just pointing the way, the path was made a long time ago. It's always been social unacceptable to mock anothers relgions or to act flippantly in serious discussions. |

Who is "society"? And how have they determined the tenor of this discourse? Why does this have to be a serious discussion? I am not sure how it is that societal norms have determined that. Your rules looked pretty amusing to me. |

Whatever, I'm not here to argue (defintion 3), I'm here to discuss by presenting arguments (defintion 2). /ignore |

Hey guys, if we all just work really hard to get on the ignore list we won't have to deal with any of this. I think that's the best we can hope for at this point. |
