i completely agree. I'm a single mom (with child support) but even with child support isn't always enough. I would have to take a 2nd job to have anywhere close to the income my ex has and i would never see my child.

I would want to work just to get a break from 12 kids.....YIKES!!!

I could be collecting disability as well. But i am capable of working (just maybe take several sick days though). I won't take it because I am capable of working though

Actually with the welfare reform installed during Clinton's time the system is more friendly to those trying. I think the daycare assistance and foodstamps is supposed to help those moms who are making too much for welfare help. I still think there is a blank spot there for some who make just enough to not be eligible for stamps and stuff but still struggle to pay the bills. The only relief they get is when they stop paying for daycare. But this also poses a problem because then the kids are kinda lachkey kids with no supervision and mine got into lots of trouble during those years.

I think you should be able to force a "family freeze" if someone is taking state assistance. you can't stop them from getting pregnant, but you can refuse to pay more for any kids concieved after the application for assistance.

I know a couple who refuse to use birth control because they think conception is up to GOD. Then the stupid church should provide the support!

There are people every day collecting funds because they don't have to work, not because they are not capable. What YR is doing, caring for her sister... this is what family is all about. Kudos to you!

I see at least... at least three people a week who collect government funds without reason, simply because some bureaucrat stamped an approval on their application. They are more than capable of working.... but don't "have to".

12 kids. 7 of us caused enough commotion and could eat you out of house and home. Why would you need an extra 5 ?!?!?!?

5 more siblings..sheeaaazzz...I think I would have had to knock off a few just to trim my odds a bit.

This was tossed around a few years back but they actually recieve so little in benefits per child that the childs health is at risk so that got tossed.

If I wasn't caring for my sister...I would love to go back to work. the problem is most employers don't like the fact that i have to miss more work than most might. but even with all of that...i tried applying for government aid and even though i was in the whole after all the bills and food etc...i stil "made too much money"

Just remember in all the judging people do on these subjects. Never judge another until you walk a mile in their shoes. There is always more to a person's story then is obvious and we should always give EVERYONE THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT when it comes to judging them as less than us or not deserving of life.

Well what about the health of those of us who pay taxes,Yet can't afford the health care that those recieving assistace have? At some point people have to take personal responsability. 12 kids you can't afford , this is crazy. I never had a second child, because I did not want to divde my resources.

Single mom here. No Child support No welfare My daughter is now 25 has 2 degrees & a great job. We both sacrifaced & worked hard for this.

12 kids, there is little doubt her shoes are in great shape, because her feet were always in the air! No doubt about that!

actually if one is working or able to work then they are not eligible for disability

regardless of what is wrong with them

that is more than likely why it takes years to get approved
if you survive the time frame without working then you may get approved

they must figure if you do not work instead you are disabled in one way or another

No. You made an widely erroneous assumption that promiscuity was linked somehow to being a mental illness or a symptom thereof.

The only person who established that was you. I disagree. I would not at all be surprised to find that most of the MH professionals in the country would disagree with you as well.
