Is Love A Need Or A Desire?
|

I think that basic human love is a need..we all need to feel and be loved and accepted....intimate physical love is a desire.

I spent yesterday playing baseball with my best friend's two little girls, 7 and 13. They have an intelligent border collie bred to herd sheep. Every time the girls hit the ball and I started chasing them, the dog would bite my ankles and herd me away from them. I am nursing about thirty bites right now. ![]() LOL sorry about that... My nose and cheek right now is so bruised and sore...at school yesterday during vet tech class in the lab, I was doing a lateral hold on a huge black lab and he flipped on me and came back and head butted me..I had a nice bloody nose for a while..havent had one of those for a while...but I'm sure it wont be my last Urgh! Keep an eye on that, and hope it doesn't go into any sinus problems. I got slammed in the face by one of the goats horns 2 years ago, it was sore, but fine, then 3 months after it became infected. Managed to clear it with echinacea. Now it's back, and isn't healing. No insurance, so I'm self-treating. I've got a liquid bubble on the upper portion, inside of my mouth in the sinus cavity, which I hope won't get worse. Mom passed me a couple amoycillian pills but it's not helping. YOUCH!!!!(about the goats horn) I'm sure it will be okk...still really sore..just bruised good is all....Second week of school andalready a mishap, so I figure this will be the 1st of many...especially working with animals.... when I used to work at the humane society, I have been scratched, bit and whatever an animal is capable of doing...lol ..all part of the job, but still no fun at all! Oh yeah, it definitely happens. I've got nicks, and marks and scars from that and grooming. No biggie. I tried working at the SPCA up in Dallas, and walked away for 2 reasons. 1) a deaf pit bull came in, and they wouldn't let me adopt her, despite having a deaf Dogo Argentino. They put her down because she was a pit, and they don't even adopt pitties out to rescue. 2) Then I was told if I ever got bit by a dog or cat, I'd have to stand and witness them cutting it's head off to send away for rabies testing. I told them to bugger off and left. sounds like a rude case of harrassement in a sense.....that was horrible for them to tell you that! |

Does anyone have an opinion about the following: Can a dog lover and a cat lover find happiness in the same household? sure, why not? As long as the DOG AND CAT LOVE EACH OTHER AND GET ALONG...lol ;) J/K YES, there should be no reason why not as long as you two fit in other ways that make a good relationship... |

I've got a black lab/pit mix, a deaf Dogo Argentino, a cat, a conure, a cockatiel, a quaker parrot, 8 parakeets, 3 PBPigs, 9 cows, 12 goats, a horse, 6 turkeys, 2 geese, and about 70 chickens. I also have 4 Japanese Chins, but they're actually my brothers. LOL! And yes, the livestock are also pets, though I eat the chicken, turkey and goose eggs, with about half of my animals as rescues. I'll take in more goats if any come through one of the local rescues I work with. I lost both of my ratties this year, with Fairy passing about 2 weeks ago. Also Cadbury the rabbit died, which really sucked. Sounds like how I grew up and I so want that again.. sorry to hear about your rabbit and dogs.....its hard to lose pets...I also always saw our "livestock" as pets..I love them all!! |

I am so glad that people are responding to the post..I currently have 2 pugs, 3 fish, 3 dwarf hamsters and one turtle...I am in school to become a Vet Tech. My dream also is to be back in the country and be on a hobby farm again and expand my "family" of animals.

I think people should be looked at as people not "the man in the wheelchair" or "the blind girl"..I'd give a chance to any woman if she was my type even if she was deaf, I would learn sign language to talk to her..I feel if everyone had the same attitude and open mindness, the world would be a much better place.. Love always, Your friend, Safina. I totally agree, same with refering to people by their color, ect.. |

Uhhhhhh sweet..... My cat Fluffy was trapped in sand under a one room schoolhouse in the middle of nowhere when it was built over 100 years before I found him...nothing got to him...air, flies, ants.....there was no taxidermy work to be done....Fluffy is an actual perfectly preserved mummy. oh okk, well, that explains better..thought it was actually the cat you had as a pet and well...lol okk....i see now |
