the yelling

the constant drone of belittling insults

the sound of smashing dishes

the cold shoulder and silent treatment

That made me LOL HARD.

I guess my own version of same would be:

The beeps, crashes, and screeches (and music that starts off kinda cool, but gets old after the 1,623rd repetition) of him playing video games for hours and hours and HOURS on end. (Also listening to the same CD or album over... and over... and over...)

His love for fixing these big greasy five-course dinners--and leaving all the dishes for me to clean up afterwards. It made me yearn for ramen noodles.

The smell of marijuana permeating everything in the house.

Knowing that he would rather have his parents think he was gay than tell them that we were a couple.

(etc)

It wasn't that bad, of course, or I wouldn't have stayed with him that long. We did really care about each other and had a lot of fun together; those things didn't really start to bug me until the last year or so that we were together.

But seriously, folks:

I don't miss anything about living with someone. My last live-in relationship lasted for 12 years; before that I had not lived alone for more than a few months at a time since the age of 18. I ALWAYS either lived with boyfriend(s) or had roommates.

Once I got used to living alone, I discovered that IT TOTALLY ROCKS. A lot of things that I considered my own personal problems completely disappeared once the stress of living with another person was gone.

My current boyfriend and I have discussed getting a place; if we do, there will be plenty of room, including each of us with his/her own bathroom and bedroom.

I can't really enjoy another person's company if I have to be around that person 24/7. yours in Chaos, Scarlett

Belief is the end of all inquiry.

Indeed!

I try to get along without belief as much as possible. Life is much more interesting and fun that way. yours in Chaos, Scarlett

Now you nice people just aren't thinking creatively enough.

Has anyone heard the term "scam baiting" before...? No...?

If you google the term "scam baiting" or "419 scam baiting" you will get a LOT of results with suggestions that may provide you and your loved ones with hours and hours of fun.

Here is a link to get you started: http://www.419eater.com/ ("419 Eater" site home page).

Does somebody want to transfer millions of dollars into your account?
Does someone want you pay you to cash cheques and send them the money?
Met a new friend/penpal on a friendship/dating site who's asking you for money?
Has a dying person contacted you wanting your help to give his money to charity?
Have you sold an item and are asked to accept a payment larger than the item amount?

So what is scambaiting? Well, put simply, you enter into a dialogue with scammers, simply to waste their time and resources. Whilst you are doing this, you will be helping to keep the scammers away from real potential victims and screwing around with the minds of deserving thieves.

It doesn't matter if you are new to this sport or a hardened veteran; if you are wasting the time of a scammer, or frustrating them in any way well that's good enough for us, and we would welcome you to join with our now very large community.

Although this site concentrates mainly on the Nigerian 419 scam, we are happy to deal with other types of scams if and when the opportunity arises. We also have a large team of experts dedicated to the removal and closure of fake scammer banks and sites.

Even if you are a newcomer, much fun can be had and at the same time you will be doing a public service.
(from the "419 Eater" home page)

A friend of mine, a very nice young gentleman who is currently in college, where he makes excellent grades, has obtained some photos and other memorabilia from 419 scammers who fell for his counter-scam hook, line, and sinker. (Though some of it is kinda gross... I'll just say it's amazing what some people will do just for the SMELL of money.)

Anyway, I could give personal anecdotes here regarding my own experiences, but I'm supposed to be working.

If you have any questions, please feel free to message me, though. Scam baiting is fun for the whole family!

You don't say what she says, exactly, when you try to talk to her about it. Also you're not giving any background about why you think this is going on--you must know more about it than you are expressing here, if this is really your best friend, as you say.

From what you're describing this is something a lot more than just some dirty dishes in the sink or a baby with a dirty diaper.

Do you think this is due to a drug problem? Is she seriously depressed because of some traumatic incident? Is she involved in an abusive relationship?

What does she say when you try to talk to her? How does she "blow it off"...?

Others here may know you but I don't know you; all I have to go on is what you're saying in this post.

DON'T let calling the law or social services be the first thing you do. You have not exhausted all your options yet.

If this was me, and if it was someone I cared about, the first thing I would do is get a few people together--family members, friends, people from church, coworkers, whoever--and get some cleaning supplies and go over there and just demand that she allow me to clean her house up. I would tell her that it was either that or we would be talking to the DHS, her choice. If she got angry, I would tell her that's ok, she could get angry, but I would clean the house up anyway and make sure that there was food in the refrigerator and clean diapers for the baby before I left.

If she refused to let me help her in this direct and simple way, I would then have a number of witnesses (so it wouldn't be just me trying to interfere in someone's home life, right?). The next thing I would do is take those people and go straight to the police station that same day and ask them to do a welfare check.

Don't call DHS yourself, you'll have to go through too many channels and you'll end up getting frustrated. Have your witnesses make the report with you and tell the police officers what they saw at this house and express their concerns that there are child health and safety issues involved.

The police will then be the ones that make the decision about whether to get DHS involved or not. At the very least it will shame your friend into doing something about the problem, or getting help if she is unable to do anything by herself, and then at least the authorities will be aware of the situation so they can keep an eye on things.

Don't feel guilty! if it's as bad as you say it is, someone needs to do something, and soon.

But more details are really needed here. There must be a reason that she has changed like this, if she wasn't this bad before.

I hope this helps. Good luck! xoxoxo

How willing are you to share your doubts with a potential mate?

What chances are you willing to take when someone shares those doubts with you?

How ironic! That is exactly what I'm doing at this very moment, lol!

Hey if you can't be creepy on the internet, where CAN you be creepy? (and not have to worry about getting arrested or sprayed with pepper spray, that is)

i don't know that they're not working

maybe they're just not working for you

i see all sorts of people who seem to be in relationships directly from meeting online.

Excellent point. Lots of people get together on dating sites. If you look at the "testimonials" board on the Plenty of Fish site, for example, you will find people making posts there every day about how they have found someone they can worship/shag/move in with/marry. I don't think this site has a testimonials board but casual observation seems to indicate that people DO hook up here.

... sites really working? There's some great people here with great personalities, some not so great too, but then that's a given with any "community". From all you hear, even tho there's thousands and thousands of people on them, the success rate is minimal. What do you think the is the biggest problem?

I think the biggest problem, maybe, is a personal one: You are sour on internet dating sites for whatever reason and trying to discourage others from having a good time...? Misery loves company, ya know.

A lot of people don't do anything or notify anyone when they get together with someone they met on a dating site; they just ignore or delete their account and go on with their happy relationship. If they don't log on for awhile they don't come up in search results, and if someone does contact them they don't answer the message.

People who are discontented, however, tend to make a lot of noise about how discontented they are. "Why am I lonely?" "Why do I get lied to so much?" "What is the largest computed prime number?" (Ok, I made that last one up; I was just reading about that today I guess they've found a prime number with over 13 million digits! Hell yeah!)

Er, anyway: If you have statistics to back up what you're saying, that would be oh, so cool. I know that my expectations are more than met by internet social sites, but I'll admit that I'm not looking for dates--I'm seeking entertainment and I'm ALWAYS entertained by the internet.

Every so often I meet someone really awesome, too! glasses yours in Chaos, Scarlett

Well, you're about a stone cold fox, aincha? The pictures are GREAT but they were obviously all taken at the same time. A color picture, or one in a different setting, would liven things up a little bit. Your information is to the point (and like you're going to need to go on and on about your interests to get attention? hah!), but when you say that you "read too much" and then you have so many spelling and punctuation errors in just a few sentences--well, it looks too much like a text message is what I'm saying.

Anyway, it's always nice to see someone who is attractive and has artistic pictures on a social site. I'm not being gay or anything, but those pics are really fun to look at. Have fun! yours in Chaos, Scarlett

Fun facts about younger men/older women: The founder of the world's third largest monotheistic religion, Muhammad, was a big fan of older women. He was married at the age of 25 to a 41-year-old lady (Kadijah); she was actually the one who proposed to him. Their married life is said to have been very happy.

In fact, one wonders whether the Q'ran would have been received by Muhammad if not for Kadijah; the financial security afforded to the prophet of Islam by his union with this well-to-do older lady enabled him to spend long periods of time alone in meditation on Mt. Hira, where eventually he ran into Gabriel (the archangel), and of course the rest is history.

It seems that being preached at is unusual enough for you that you find it upsetting and strange...?

If you live to be as old as me, and have as many people preach to you, at you, and over you as I have, you'll probably start to enjoy it after awhile, and perhaps even thrive on it.

However, if you reach the point that you start to feel somewhat unimportant if no one has condemned or scolded you in a few days: You've gone too far! turn back! (ROFL!) er... sorry... just some friendly and well-intentioned advice, but do what thou wilt!

Going to Pikes Peak is something one has to plan (a lot) for; on nice days (weekends and weekdays alike) there is a traffic jam allll the way up the mountain, and allll the way back.

I suggest driving through Woodland Park and then on through to Evergreen to view the aspen--there are probably lots of cars going that way, too, but not as many as you'll find on Pikes Peak. If you're not into driving: Garden of the Gods, of course! I hope this was helpful. yours in Chaos, Scarlett

Those are great pics of you. However, the expression "I'm tired of ending up in relationships that don't work" is sort of too much information, and could attract the wrong sort of person, if you see what I'm saying.

I'm sure you are a very busy individual and have little time in between working and caring for your (delightful! so cute!) child to have a lot of hobbies, but in my opinion a little more information about what you enjoy doing would probably help. Just my opinion of course! Feel free to disregard it. Good luck! yours in Chaos, Scarlett
