Well, I say, Thank God for the rebirth of the coffee shops in South Carolina. I know they have been around for a while now. But, I'm 71 and I can remember when you heard about coffee shops if you like reading a Bob Dylan or an Allen Ginsburg biography. You knew at one time they existed, but they weren't around here, back then. I met most of my women either in bars, schools, or hook up or by mutual friends. Coffee is good. You can meet for coffee and it doesn't have to last that long if there is no chemistry. I used to think the best dates were dinner and a movie. When I was a teenager, dinner meant a trip to Mickey D's or Hardees and then on to the movie. The problem with that is, you can get a little talking done at dinner, but you are also eating and it ain't polite to talk with food in you mouth. Momma taught me that. Movies, no talking gets done at all. Coffee can last as long as you want it too and if there is chemistry, you can go someplace else, drinks and or movie or vice versa. It gives both parties an easy out if they want one. So, for me, first dates; coffee then maybe drinks then we'll just see what happens ;)

You know, Missy, I've kind of had the same problem. I really love Asian women. When I was overseas, it was so easy to start a relationship with an Asian lady. Then I got out of the military and came back home. There are lots of lovely Asians here, but, as you've noticed, they are all looking for Asian boys. Thankfully, even though I am highly attracted to Asians, I still attracted to other races as well. All women to me are simply, wonderfully, fascinating. I guess you could say that I just love women. Everything from redhair and freckles to almond eyed, dusky Asians. Latinas are lovely to me as well. AND, of course, who can pass up a good soul sister, too. I guess the one common denominator is I do like the darker skin tones and the exoticness is an attraction too. I'm getting awfully long in the tooth now, but, hopefully, some lady will come along and turn my head and be a comfort, a friend and a lover before my journey through this life is done. A guy can always hope :)

Well, the sad thing that I'm ashamed to admit is that most of us guys are born ugly. But, a lot of us still have good hearts, if that counts. All I can say is, Thank God for women. At least y'all are pretty and it is one of the pleasures of my life to look at y'all.

Wow. In the end, it's all going to boil down to how you feel and what you want. He sounds pretty damaged to me. Somewhere along the way, his value system was not installed right, jarred loose or something. But, if I was in that situation, I think a lawyer would be my next stop. If I was him, that's what I'd expect to be the result of my behavior. Wipe your slate clean and start over. That's my advice.

Gaffney here, and you can't throw a rock without hitting one. But, it seems like most of the really good ones have already been taken *sigh* laugh

Well, I'm 71. When I was younger, I was a bit of a player. Over the course of my life, I wound up getting played a few times, myself. Most times, with most partners, we kept things casual, so it was no big earth shaking event. Just all fun and games. However, when it happens to a relationship you cherish, you actually say vows over. That is a big deal and it causes a lot of hurt that some people never get over. We've all probably met those people who were damaged in the past. Nothing we ever did to them, somebody else did it. But, you can see the effect of it for years afterward. I finally learned that before you start a new relationship, you need to start it clean. Finish the one you are in, make a clean break before you bring anybody else in. It is a hard thing to do. A lot of people don't like to face the situation when they end things with someone. But, it is kinder to them, less emotional pain and it doesn't hit them in their self esteem and emotional core like infidelity will. Divorce is expensive and it hurts. But, at least you leave her with her sense of honor and self esteem intact. It is the adult thing to do and not only that, the manly thing to do. If you don't, if you want the new relationship to last you need to show that you aren't cavalier with people's feelings. The new person will remember that. It will be in the back of their mind all during the relationship. You loved your wife enough to feel like you couldn't do without her, without marrying her. So, show her the respect and consideration she deserves. Make a clean end of it first, then embark on something new. Be a kind person. Don't hurt anybody needlessly. Don't be a coward, show some courage and face and clean up your mess like a grown up. Just something I've learned from experience. Don't sew negative karma for yourself. I've been around the world twice when I was a young jarhead. Always try to be a better man in any situation that you face. Even if it means facing unpleasant reactions.

Well, I reckon I'm tossing my hat in this ring. Even though it's got a bit of a look of a sausage party in here.

I'm from Gaffney now. Kind of out in the boondocks between Gaffney and Cowpens. Originally from Washington DC, but first moved to Spartanburg from Brandywine Md. I went to school in Spbtg from the second grade to my sophomore year at SHS. I lo thke Sptbg. I left this area about 50, but retired back here on the old, small farm I grew up when we moved to Gaffney. But, I always had to come back to visit family, over those years. I love Sptbg, it's grown a lot and has some pretty interesting things to do. It kind of feels like an artsy kinda town, a bit. I like that vibe. I try to get into Sptbg as much as possible. I'm a big music lover, but, I haven't made to the Fr8Yard yet. :)

Well, about men attracted to younger women. I think it depends on how that man defines younger women. I'm 71, but, I like to look at women from 35 to 55. I'm pretty flexible with that. But, I don't want to go too young. Anyway, if you are 65 or younger, you are a younger woman, in my book ;)
