We did a similar thing with popcorn and made "candy popcorn"
We used the equiv. of 5 bags of microwave popcorn. 1 cup sugar 6 tablespoons light karo 1 stick butter 6 drops food coloring 3 drops flavoring (we used vanilla or peppermint) I cooked the first 3 until boiling and then on medium heat for another 5 minutes stirring constantly. Then took off heat and added the flavor and color. Then it went onto the popped corn and stirred good, then into the oven on 250 for 45 minutes, stirring every 15. It was delish! |

Ya' know...I'm not feeling it so much in the last week either.
However, I am forced to continue on because of the kids. In turn, this has brought me much joy. I think sometimes you just put yourself there, and it actually becomes a good thing. That dude actually had a semi-good perspective..... you can either decide it's going to be bad, or choose the opposite and kind of jump in even though you don't feel like it. You might be surprised and actually enjoy some of the festivities. I have a friend who's laying in a hospital on a ventilator after having had a second heart attack during an angioplasty today. It really made me re-think my mortality and the fact that I need to make the best of the time I have left here. It can be snatched in an instant. I'm just going to choose to make the best of this day and wake up tomorrow and try to do the same thing. ((((Tim))) |

Well it's cold here too.......downright nipply!
Hello all you 30/40/50 somethings!! Hope your week is moving along nicely. I've had quite an odd one. Had an interesting experience meeting my ex's gf last night. It wasn't the same one I met 2 months ago, to my surprise. This one made a show of taking pictures at a band concert during which she met my child for the first time. A family member joked that they wondered if she even knew which kid to take the pictures of....... I thought by 40 people normally had learned some common sense and etiquette...man was I wrong!! At least tomorrow is TGIF.... |

Hey Heather..how goes the 40's thread... I think it's moving along pretty well considering I sort of abandoned it..... We have been so busy with holiday school programs and trying to get things finished up around here I don't have much time on the 'puter right now. How goes it at your house? BTW...I'm a fan of yoga myself. Even fluffy chicks can do it!! I always feel so much better after. Going good around here...my vacation started the other day, woo hoo, got a few weeks off. Since I don't do Christmas, not much to get ready for, just relaxing, breathing, living, pondering, meditating....all that good stuff. Love yoga..the whole thing, body, mind, spirit. Keeps me sane. Yay on the days off!!! |

My fuzzy visitor!

I came home one time to a 10 gallon bucket full of baby mice...hehe. They had apparently been born under my dryer and ventured out and into the dog food bucket and couldn't get back out. I let them stay there until my ex-husband came home and he fixed the problem. I don't know how, I didn't ask......

Yay.......new faces and some "old" ones too...
Hmmmmm, dating??? Well it's happened and there are some fabulous people here so I think it could happen again. Ya' never know.....maybe you might meet a great person right HERE in the 40's Retreat..... Seriously though, there are quite a few couples on Mingle who are working out great. I hope they come in to tell you about it. Welcome everyone...I hope your holiday plans are working out and nobody is feeling blue. There's always room at my house for Christmas! |

I agree that this sounds like it could be the makings of a scam. I think I would cut out now. It never has a chance of making it anyhow, even if it is real......your circumstances just don't make it possible. Time to focus on things closer to home.
