"Love at First Sight?"

lol........Gypsy I like your style.. me too.. I will take a little lust with my love please!!!
On a more serious note--a quote "a recent study published in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships showed that the first few minutes of meeting someone has a huge influence on the course the relationship will ultimately take. (Which explains why you know before the drinks come that your "just perfect for you" blind date is a no-go, or that hunky online hottie has definite possibilities.) Communications researchers Artemio Ramirez and Mike Sunnafrank randomly paired 164 college students and let them talk for periods of three, six or ten minutes. Then, the students filled out a questionnaire which asked them to predict what kind of relationship they would have, ranging from being casual acquaintances to close friends, as well as how much the two had in common and how much they liked the person they'd just met. At the end of the nine-week course, the students were asked to judge how their initial predictions had held up. Students who reported a positive impression after the first meeting were more likely to have developed a friendly relationship after the nine-week period. This was true regardless of whether the initial chat was three, six or ten minutes, meaning the snap judgments we make based on first impressions are actually fairly accurate. In a recent London Daily Mail article, Professor Artemio Ramirez, co-author of the study said: "Earlier research had assumed there was a cumulative effect that happens in the first few days of meeting that helps determine how a relationship will develop. But we're finding that it all happens much sooner than that — it's literally within minutes. Romantic relationships begin with people making judgments very quickly." |

If It's August...
It’s time for the annual “Mars will appear as big as the Full Moon” email! It’s been going around this time of year, every year since 2003... and it’s still wrong! This widespread email says that on August 27, Mars will be so close to the Earth, it will look as big as the full Moon. This claim is a misinterpretation of a real event in 2003 when Mars was relatively close to Earth. But Mars really never gets that close to Earth. The only way Mars would ever look as big as the Full Moon from Earth would be through the eyepiece of a telescope. The email never mentions the year this is supposed to happen. And so the message gets passed around year after year, with no signs of stopping. If you get this email, our advice is: click “delete”! Still, if you want to imagine what Mars could look like if it were as big as the Full Moon, you’ll have a good opportunity on August 28, when the Full Moon slips into the shadow of the Earth, during a total lunar eclipse. As it nears totality, the Moon will turn a deep red color, reminiscent of Mars’ rusty color. The color change is caused by Earth’s atmosphere scattering sunlight on its way to the lunar surface. Here’s the catch: the lunar eclipse begins at 3:51 AM on the morning of August 28. It reaches totality at 4:52 AM and ends at 6:18 AM. From my location in Illinois, the Moon sets in the west at 6:21 AM that morning, so we won’t get to see the entire event. Just as totality ends, the Sun will be rising. |

Frog legs

This is the fairy tale that should have been read to us when we were little: Once upon a time ~~~~~~~~ in a land far away, ~~~~~~~~ a beautiful, independent, self-assured princess ~~~~~~~~ happened upon a frog as she sat contemplating ecological issues on the shores of an unpolluted pond in a verdant meadow near her castle. ~~~~~~~~ The frog hopped into the princess' lap and said: " Elegant Lady, I was once a handsome prince, until an evil witch cast a spell upon me. ~~~~~~~~ One kiss from you, however, and I will turn back into the dapper, young prince that I am ~~~~~~~~ and then, my sweet, we can marry ~~~~~~~~ and set up housekeeping in your castle ~~~~~~~~ with my mother, ~~~~~~~~ where you can prepare my meals, ~~~~~~~~ clean my clothes, bear my children, ~~~~~~~~ and forever feel grateful and happy doing so. " ~~~~~~~~ That night, ~~~~~~~~ as the princess dined sumptuously ~~~~~~~~ on lightly sauteed frog legs ~~~~~~~~ seasoned in a white wine ~~~~~~~ and onion cream sauce, ~~~~~~~~ she chuckled and thought to herself: ~~~~~~~~ I don't f**kin think so. |

I have noticed a lot of people have read this topic and there have been some very good replies as well;
All in all, I think it really comes down to committment and respect for one another; How far is too far? Some people believe that anything past 50 miles is too far--some people would travel the world over if it is true love; For the younger members here, life is beginning in the adult world, trials, errors and lessons to be learned;everything is fun at this stage; As for others, there may be home ownership, careers that have been built for many years; stability and children (and yes even some who are caretakers for their elderly parents or children) also come into this big picture as well. I would say if communication is open and all bases are touched and discussed life will work itself out for both; Sometimes life is about give, take and compromise. I wish you well in your journey for your special someone......sometimes the road is a long one. |
