Nuclear power is a reasonable way for countries to generate power if they're at all concerned about either their carbon footprint or the fact that the earth's oil supply is both finite and rapidly dwindling. Risk? Sure, there's risk, but it's both reasonable and manageable. Expense? Nothing like what lies ahead for oil. The time is here and now for renewable fuels for anyone who wants or needs to live outside of equatorial reqions. Stop pushing for more of the same, stop being irresponsible, and adopt fuels for the future. Atomic energy is a good alternative until something better comes along.

"He has his own worldview," one Dem said. Another said, "He's very stubborn."

Quoting sources without identifying them is a journalistic no-no, but this story does come from Fox. Why would I expect anything different from them?

No, I don't believe PolitiFact, but I'd favor a government takeover of healthcare in the US. Just this week, a cardiolgist told me that I needed to undergo a stress test, so I check on the cost. I expected it to be less than $1000 but--suprise, surprise--it was $7300! Absolutely outrageous! At prices like these, it's easy to see how health care could account for 20% of the American economy.

And by the way, I decided not to have the test. This never ending trent of being milked by the health care industry must stop!

Ah, yes, Alan Greenspan. Mr. Greenspan's policies have finanlly been discredited by the majority of economists, and for good reason. He's a lousy economist. Laissez-faire policies extended toward business benefit no one except for business.

As for President Reagan, do you remember "trickle-down economics," Mr. Reagan's insistence that lowering taxes on the wealthy would benefit the rest of us? Well, it didn't. The wealthy people who received the benefits of lower taxes just squirreled it away in their bank accounts--they didn't reinvest it our economy as was predicted. As a matter of fact, President Reagan was the first of the union-busting Presidents.

Collective bargaining is what made a strong middle class possible in this country. I'm amazed that so many people are so poorly schooled in economics and history. No, not everything that unions have done is to be applauded. They have had some leaders that were just as corrupt as some of our current elected representatives. There will always be some bad apples in every segment of society but, as the old saying goes, "You don't throw out the baby with the bath water." The middle class needs strong unions to survive. Without them, were on the fast track to becoming a third-world country with only two economic classes: the very rich and the poor. So which do you find the least acceptable option?

Well after coming home from a
america, I was really shocked.surprised

I had grown up believing that it was THE LAND OF THE FREE. what

what But what the heck does that meanwhat

I left a country that I thought was having trouble.
I arrived in a country that I saw trouble everywhere.

I left a country where we talk to everyone,
I arrived in a country where its like nobody is game to talk to you.

I left a country where, where if you want to get up off your butt and work then your opportunities are limitless.
I arrived in a country where it seems you opportunities to succeed are limited.

I left home knowing that my children can leave school at 16 or 18 ifhey choose and walk into a good job here and not have to worry as long as they put in the effort.
I arrived in a country, that it seems like the children are in school forever and even if they want to work, they still may have trouble. and if their marks are not great, then their options are limited.

I left home feeling able to walk around without a worry.
I arrived to a place where everyone tells me to be careful , but of what, someone stealing my bagsurprised my stuffsurprised but why, , dont put your stuff downslaphead I dont want to carry it forever.
dont be to friendly. Well what am i supposed to do. Honestly dont this and dont that. i felt like i was 2.

I stopped and asked a soldier for his picture, and it seemed like i had shocked the poor boy just by asking. Why, I was just being friendly. And i wanted his picture. surely this is not strange.

I talked to a navy man for 2 hours on a plane who thought australians where friendly becasue I told him my life storywhat Well what else do you do, when you sit next to someone. hmm now he is coming to australia to visit us on his next trip. soo cool i made a new friend, but it was like peole dont just make random friends.

The next plane I made friends with an Architect, (cant spell it) and he and his wife both have to work to be comfortable, but there daughter struggles inschool and they are worried about her when she is older as she wont have as good an oportunity with out a great education. What happens over there to all those children who dont, have the schooling, how do they cope. We dont need it here.

Hmmm then I found that although everyone was wonderful, people seem trapped in there own little prisons, its like everyone is too scared to smile or let peole see who they really are inside.

When did you all dance in the street, or run around inthe rain, or just giggle beceu you could. or stop and chat to someone you dont know for an hour or two. Or ring a wrong number and make new friends.

anyway, what doyou think that THE LAND OF THE FREE MEANS.
Just it didnt appear free when i was there. so what do you think it actually means.

The above message is brought to you by the Republican National Committee.

I dont like people who blatantly lie and honestly expect that their audience is so stupid so as not to notice they’re lying. It kind of makes me wonder if it’s a total projective thing. Are they really that stupid to think we don’t all know they are lying?

Here's something to ponder, lilbug. Much of that you say is mirrored by what the Egyptian people are saying about their government. In many respects, our situations ARE similar. Perhaps what's needed is a "revolt" similar to the one they're staging in Egypt, but not simply a revolt again the President, but a revolt against ALL elected officials. Just a thought.

I think that anyone who believes "liberals will defend anything morally corrupt" is an idiot, plain and simple.

Sounds like you've just entered the next stage of life a bit quicker than your contemporaries. Most of the will eventually catch up.

It's just a social situation dating back to the time when women were viewed as property, which really wasn't that far back. My mother was born the year that American women received the right to vote. It'll pass in time.

I'sdstill like to learn to fly. Started lessons years ago, but it got too expensive. I did go skydiving, though.

Just throw yourself at the ground and miss.

I did that once. I had a barber pole opening and tried to miss the ground, but I failed. :)

Jimmy Hendriks did that throughout his life, and it sure didn't hurt him!

Is there something that interests you that you've always wanted to learn about? Or something you'd like to learn to do?

I want to learn to play the guitar. I started teaching myself the basics a while ago, but that got put on hold when I was moving. I think I will start that again.

I taught myself how to play guitar in the early/mid 80's. Still not sure if I screwed up or not because it really freaks people out.... I didn't take into account the 'mirror image' when seeing on TV on how to hold one... so for 25+ years I've been playing 'backwards' (right handed, playing normally strung 'righty' guitars and picking with my left hand)........
