Folks,
I think there are still a LOT of misconceptions about the moderation feature. First, VERY FEW topics get deleted at all. We've been keeping a tally, and the number of topics that get deleted is less than 3% - that's 3 topics out of 100. Of that 3%, almost 2% are because of a duplicate topic issue (the poster posted the same topic twice), or because the topic was placed in the wrong forum. It's the wrong forum deletions that seem to be causing the most angst. The topic itself is totally fine, but it's in the wrong spot. Michael's topic tonight was an example of that. He should have placed it in the Chit Chat forum, but having been away from the site for a while, I don't think he even knew that that forum existed. Now, on the flip side, there are a lot of topics that, without the deletion system, would have been up for much much longer than they should have. We had a troll on the other night, for example, that was hurling racial slurs left and right. The deletion system got rid of his topics almost immediately. If instead the topic could only be deleted by Vanchau or myself, it would have been up for hours and caused a lot more damage, hurt feelings, etc. The solution we're working on is to allow a "Move topic" option which will allow you to nominate a topic to be moved. The voting will work in the same way as deletion. It's the misplaced topics that seem to be causing the most angst, and I think offering a move option will eliminate all of that. It's also very important to note that just because a topic that is fine gets nominated for deletion doesn't mean the system is not working. And even if that topic gets a lot of votes for deletion doesn't mean the system is not working. The deletion system is designed to let people vote incorrectly, because it takes a super-majority of people to actually delete a topic. It's also important to note that Vanchau and I review all the deleted topics and reverse any decisions we disagree with. In total, we've reversed perhaps 4-5 decisions since the system was put in place. So overall, the vast majority of deletions were ones that we agreed with. And any users that are consistently voting incorrectly have had their moderation privileges revoked. I just wanted to make sure everyone had the full information on the deletion system before making judgments. Thanks, Mike |

Insults or rude comments to other members = suspension of posting privileges or ban. Everyone here should know that by now.

When you receive that email, it means someone has said they want to meet you through Mutual Match. To see if you are a match, go to the Mutual Match section and start rating people. We'll reveal who it is if you also say "Yes" or "Maybe" to them.

Hi folks,
There have been a lot of duplicate or similar topics in this forum recently. Please make sure to keep duplicate topics to a minimum. It's not fair to other users to have multiple copies of your topic placed on the forum. Instead, please make ONE topic and continue to post in that topic. If it gets too long, we'll lock it and you can create another one. We'll begin deleting duplicate topics immediately when we see them, so please help us out by not posting them in the first place. Thanks, Mike |

So how important is it to you guys to have your choices be anonymous? For a lot of users, it's important to them that the other user doesn't know what they chose, but I want to get a sense from everyone as to how you guys feel about it.
There are a couple of ways we could do Mutual Match: - Keep it as is: the other person has no idea what your vote was for them unless it's a mutual match. So even if you vote "Yes" or "Maybe", they'll have no idea unless they vote "Yes" or "Maybe" for you too. And if you have a match, you still don't know exactly what their vote was - you only know that is was a Yes or a Maybe, but not which one. - Reveal all of the people who've voted "Yes" or "Maybe". So if you vote "Yes" or "Maybe" for someone else, we'll show them that you want to meet them, even if they haven't voted for you yet. If you vote "No", though, we won't show that to the other person - they'll have no idea that you rated them at all. What's your preference between these two options? Any concerns? |

When the instruction box fades in, you can just click on the "X" in the upper right to close the screen. If you check the box labeled "Never show this again", you won't ever be shown that screen any more.
Dave2722 - that's a great idea, we'll see if we can make that happen. We took off the responses because a lot of people didn't feel comfortable with the other person knowing what they voted, i.e. if I said "Yes" and the other person said "Maybe" I might feel kind of strange about it. |

rivergirl - I'll check on the "1 New" issue and see what's going on.
Txsgal - they should not show up in your matches if you said no. However, they might have changed their picture between when you said yes and when you were connected. |

That email means that someone has said "Yes" or "Maybe" to you in Mutual Match, but you have not rated them back yet. To find out if you are a match, you need to go to the Mutual Match section and start rating people. If you click "Yes" or "Maybe" too, then we'll show you the match.
We're going to rewrite the email to see if we can make that more clear. |

That email means that there are people who have rated you as "Yes" or "Maybe" but you haven't rated them yet. To see if you're a match, you need to go into your Mutual Matches and start rating people. If you click Yes or Maybe too, then we'll show you who they are.
Sounds like we need to make the wording of that more clear... |

1. You can now click on a person's picture or username on your list of Mutual Matches and see their full profile.
2. We think we've fixed a bug where periodically, your next would be blank and you'd have to refresh the page in order to get another match. If you see any issues, let us know. Thanks! |

Yahoo or Hotmail accounts should work fine. How many invitations have you sent? I only see 1 invitation from your account that hasn't been cancelled. Friend invites to people who are already on the site don't count.
You must send 3 invitations to people who are not on the site, and you can't cancel any of them. Once you do that, you'll be upgraded. |

We had a bug earlier that would cause this to happen occasionally. But it should be fixed now and that issue should no longer happen. If you think it is still occurring, definitely let us know and we'll take a look.
