True, but you still need to know which end goes "boom", and how to operate/maintain it.

Oh, I figured that you did, being the author - it was the universal "you".

would you be able to survive in a post-apocalyptic world? No electricity, no plumbing, no grocery stores, etc. Think of the Gilligan's Island theme song, but you don't get a professor!

yes, i believe so.

that question doesn't seem to be whether or not the human race would survive, but moreso if you could with your own skills

My daughter just asked me last weekend if I'd move to the Kiribati Islands with she and her husband. I could probably handle visiting for about a week, but don't think I could live that way all the time.

Hmmmmmmmm...rethinking this now...

Can a take any man of my choosing with me?  laugh bigsmile

I think more of us could than they think. After Oklahoma lost power due to an ice storm, I know I can. And, now I always keep my gas tank at least 3/4 full. It was unbelievable how people scrambled to find a gas station with power.

if that were the case...all main resources would probably be used up within months due to selfish survival tactics. yep, people get that way...think of AKIRA!

Which resources would that be? It doesn't mean to acquire & horde 400 cases of Beanie-Weenies. The goal should be to only stock up on enough supplies to sustain you until you become self-sufficient. Hording non-renewable material makes no sense, and would probably only make you a target for those who have adopted the predator/scavenger lifestyle.
Yes, I agree, some people would turn to that, and that's what all the martial skills are for.

okay, perhaps a month is too soon. but i'd say a year. imagine all the people living on this planet striving to survive. and hell yes 400 cases of beanie weenies are gonna become very sufficient! its a matter of life and death. and truely in the end will skill really matter. it will become the case of man vs. beast. and no matter how civilized man is compared to beast. beast has the upper hand. but then theres hope. but of course...this is not reality.

yes, I lived it for 13 years, with a husband and four children.... no electricity, no running water.... and limited access to commodities.

Yes I can, and would survive if civilisation as we know it was to collapse..

Even down to bush medicine.
