Oh by the way, I lived in Holmes County Ohio (Amish capital of the world) for years. Now I live in Lebanon County, PA very close to the Lancaster County Amish. The Amish and Mennonite ways can not be comparedc to that of Scientology on any level. Amish and Mennonites do indeed have clergymen in a very traditional sense that most think of clergymen. In fact have you ever heard of Pennsylvania Dutch Pow-Wow? It's basically German folk magick that the Amish still practice to this very day, especially in the older order of Amish. That's definately a far cry from how Scientology does things as far as I know. If I'm missing your comparison between Scientology and the Mennonite and Amish please explain it to me further, because personally I don't see the conection.

I don't care how people believe, that's none of my business. I don't care how their religion is run, if the members are fleeced, it's their own fault and a lesson learned (hopefully). What I do have problems with is the practice of kidnapping and attempting to "help" former members. This has happened many times, with many fatalities resulting. The government should create a special taskforce to investigate and prosecute these sorts of things.

and my reference to the memonite and scientologist is that they don't believe in modern medicine, although the Amish and the Memonites now do go to hospitals when necessary, but that was frowned upon for years. Both groups (Amish/Memonite and Scientologist) believe that the man is the head of the household and although vary a bit believe he is the only law in the house. Women in both groups (IN MY OPINION) are treated very subserviently. But to each their own, and it is their way, so I am not going to judge that.

Since you decided to get personal, let me first say that there is no such word as "Misconstruded." Second of all, if you refer back to the first section of this thread, you will see where I went back to explain why I wrote the word "lame." I believe when topics are posted, you don't have to include the original post in your reply. Especially since the comments get posted several people at a time.

Scientology is the study of truth. Who could not believe in that? As to the specifics, I do not know enough about it. It seems to be another philosophy. I am grounded in my faith in God and that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. Scientology doesn't hurt me, as far as I know. I have read some of L. Ron Hubbards books. They made sense.

I think it's perfectly alright to talk about the flaws in a religion. Sometimes it seems that a week doesn't go by in which I have to defend Christianity from the "Crusades" and "Inquisition" attacks.

Oh my! I don't want you to destroy me, but I do have a question...what media outlet has said anything negative about Scientology? The last one to do that was Time and it cost them 6 million in legal fees. Since then, nobody has be brave enough to do it again. I read the websites maintained by past and current scientology members.
