If 'God' was before everything, if 'God' was the only thing before any type of creation(material existance), then wouldn't all things have come from 'God'? The Cathars had a problem with this, especially the idea that an omnibenevolent God would not have created evil. They decided that God created all things of the spirit and that was good, while the devil created evil. Much argument was caused by John Ch. 1. "All things were made by him..." But the Cathars pointed out it goes on (In King James version here) "..and without him was not anything made that was made." They claimed that the physical and evil world was part of the nothing that was made without God. |
