Costco sues Trump admin seeking tariff refunds before Supreme Court rules if they’re illegal www.cnbc.com/2025/12/01/costco-sues-trump-tariffs-trade-supreme-court.html?msockid=136866ffc3276491118c70e3c2b565fa ● Costco filed a lawsuit asking for a full refund of tariffs the warehouse club giant has paid since President Donald Trump imposed “reciprocal” and “fentanyl” tariffs earlier this year. ● Costco’s suit in the U.S. Court of International Trade notes that it might not be able to get the refunds later, even if the Supreme Court upholds lower court rulings that the tariffs are illegal. ● Trump invoked the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to impose those often high tariffs on imports from most of the world’s nations. In August, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, in a 7-4 ruling, upheld a prior decision by the Court of International Trade that found Trump did not have that power.
“The core Congressional power to impose taxes such as tariffs is vested exclusively in the legislative branch by the Constitution,” the Federal Circuit said in its ruling. “Tariffs are a core Congressional power.” So not only did Trump's tariffs cost $billions in US commerce when he insulted our biggest trading partners, they'll probably have to pay all the money back, having squandered every bit of good will the US had previously enjoyed. What do you think? |

The whole tariff scam will fall apart sooner than later and Trump and his Minions will be sent to the moon, figuratively spoken.
He is losing his mind for some time now and his brain disease is progressing sharply. Let's hope someone with common sense and humility will turn the ship around. Can't be the couch humper Vance! |

What do you think? Good Will doesn’t pay the bills. We’ve been getting dipped for many years before Trump brought unprecedented policies that looked unethical, but was needed to make the trade wars fair. All the naysayers will see the good of Trumps policies soon. |

Not sure what you expect from a trade war, but Canada, Mexico and Europe were not ripping us off. Canada, alone, spent tens of $billions on trade with the US over the year, and now Trump Admin idiocy has brought it close to zero. Lockheed Martin had a deal to sell Canada over $30 billion for 88 new F-35 fighter aircraft. Now it's down to 18, with Canada looking at switching to aircraft from Sweden. Florida's tourism and real estate markets are crashing with all the "Snowbirds" selling off their winter homes. Canadian snowbirds say U.S. politics are ruffling feathers and changing their migration patterns www.msn.com/en-ca/politics/government/canadian-snowbirds-say-u-s-politics-are-ruffling-feathers-and-changing-their-migration-patterns/ar-AA1QEwSC?ocid=BingNewsVerp |

And it affects US citizens who regularly bought items abroad as they now have to pay much more because of the Trump idiocy. Especially small businesses cannot afford to cough up the extra cost themselves so in the end it's the US buyer who suffers. Trump's reasoning is -I suppose- to then purchase these items in the US. But guess what: not everything can be made/bought in the US! That's such arrogance and tunnel vision. The whole fairy tale story that the US got ripped off, and had been for years, is delusional. The ones who paid extra for goods out of the US were the buyers, not the sellers. Whether individuals or companies. And I know as I've been both. When I had my webshop I bought a lot in the US, and I was the one paying extra for it, not people in the US. They benefitted from it as sales & trade keep an economy strong & healthy. Like you say, it has thrown the whole trade and business out of whack. When you believe you're the almighty and in the Nr1 position in the world you're going to fall flat on your face. I think -and hope- most will give the US a big FU and purchase elsewhere. Plenty of other options. If Americans suffer because of it I do feel for them. Not so much the ones who voted this pensioner into office, but the others sure as heck yes. But die-hard Trump fans cannot see reason. |

BTW... court ruling something is illegal still doesn't mean it's going to be reverted and/or changed.
We had a similar thing here in The Netherlands during the pandemic. Government/the idiot PM imposing curfews and chit, people going to court, judge ruling it was illegal, a direct violation of our constitution and constitutional rights. Guess what. Nothing changed. He did it anyways, no one did a thing. Who's going to stand up against government/a PM/a president? The police? The army? Not going to happen. And those MFers who do such things know that. |

Yea. People leaving blue democrat states as quick as possible because of high taxes and immoral policies. Trump is doing the job to bring america back to the prominent great nation it used to be before the dems got their s**thooks in to governing. They put us way behind. Never again should a liberal democrat be elected to run this country into the ground again..
