There are people who think intimate encounter indicates a personal bond with someone beyond 'dating'.
If you tilt your head just so, some may think it means sharing everything about yourself with someone special. Being intimate.
Most truly loving and lasting relationships are intimate.
Meeting someone new is an encounter.
It could imply someone is looking for a fully saturated loving bond with someone they just met (which makes little sense) but some actually do search for marriage and instant love.

Or, intimate encounter could also indicate someone unfamiliar with dating site terms and meanings.

Most of the time tho, intimate encounter does mean sex
but...
There are people who think activity partner means sex too?

I'm also pretty sure some people think friendship indicates an option of friends with benefits.

And...

Most of the time, seeking a relationship does indicate sex will be part of the relationship because most of the time, it does.

Always and never are absolutes.
I try not to group things in absolutes because people will surprise you.
The only way to be sure is to read into the profile or actually meet with that person. Thing is, most of the time, your gut feeling is accurate.

honesty is an admirable trait that most people respect .. so when I see anyone being honest about what they are seeking or their dating intentions .. I acknowledge their honesty .

There is another “I” word I also value and that is ‘Inclusion”.

There are many on mingle who say they are not looking for relationships or just here for the forums , yet their behaviour is incongruent .. curious ... Is that any less of a turnoff ??

Sex and intimacy are natural healthy desires .. I am not turned off by people being honest about what they are looking for .. what I am turned off by is people (intentional or otherwise) who marginalise anyone who does not fit with their own personal values ... especially something as personal as intimacy . . Thankfully mingle does not discriminate .. one of the reasons I this site .
