the older you get the harder it is to lose weight , because by that time , your body and the fat , have become real goid friends!! Just saying!!! good luck anyway!! Personally I feel that's just a myth people keep telling to make it okay to be overweight or downright fat. For me it has to do with a good drop of oestrogen when peri-menopause started and getting this insatiable hunger. Now I think this too had to do with the stomach acid. In any case, I had to eat small things all the time otherwise I'd get so faint and shaky (real bad blood sugar dip) I couldn't function at all anymore. Then I got into the habit of eating and snacking more, and then of course you put on weight. If that gets sorted, which it did with added oestrogen (birth control) you can loose weight. It was just difficult to break the habit of snacking, hihi. Before that I settled on a weight that I truly liked. The aim is to get back to that :) |

No excuse to remain over weight in this age of numerous diets , fads or other wise, plus the supplements etc .
It's a matter of personal choice to find and maintain your best weight! In some countries being fat is a sign of Health , and skinny is the opposite ... go figure !!! |

Wellllll.....
a couple of months ago I was experiencing acid reflux and burbing a lot and discovered that it was caused by my consuming dairy. Now I personally don't mind burbing even in public by myself or others but I consider burbing #2 on my fun things to do in public list but I gotta tell you farting is numero uno...nothing like a good rip roaring fart to clear the air, ya know what I mean? |

I am 5'9" and at 56y.o I weigh 65kgs. I have had to reduce weight at two different stages of my life, for two entirely different reasons. In my early 20s I had to bring iit to 60kgs (was nearly 70kgs then, lean) and I took to metal road jogging. It worked, but I stressed my knees! And, once again around 5-6yrs back I was weighing 75kgs+, much to my dislike! I went on a strict diet. It worked, wiping out any flab that had sneaked in! (O' yeah, I had hopelessly taken to the bottle after my separation, divorce in 2011/2012)
Till date I follow a zero carb diet, after sunset. It has worked for me. (I am not a foodie, anyway LOLZ!) |

I was actually in the process of getting the weight loss surgery and the covid shut down everything and I didn't feel like waiting who knows how long before I could have got that surgery so I just picked a day and started it. Now it's been about like 17 months and I've lost almost all of it. Well, I was told if I lost much more I would look "sickly".
The one thing I've learned over this journey is that you have to retrain your brain in order to succeed with this type of issue. |

When I was a teenager, I was 95kg & really well built. Now I'm 31 & I weigh roughly 60-65kg, slim & healthy. This proves that not everybody gets fat as they get older. I believe it's a matter of keeping active & never slack off in doing physical work.

loosing weight is not really as important as maintaining or gaining muscle mass.
the more you use your muscles, the more you increase your matabolism. that will automatically reduce any un wanted wait. the key is to stay active and motivated. that is helped by having a partner. which is what I'm hoping to find here. |

In some countries being fat is a sign of Health , and skinny is the opposite ... go figure !!! I don't do nor believe in diets nor fads. I don't see how supplements have to do with losing weight? And it's not a matter of personal choice unless you have a real bad diet/life-style. There are other causes for gaining weight. One is stress or not being supported by your partner or not having a man. Since a woman's collective wound is the belly area I guess this has to do with that. Then you can get a 'buffer' --> a bigger stomach. I've been there in a crap relationship with a narcissist and no matter what I did, I didn't lose an ounce (=100gr). When I'd left him and moved here it just melted away even though I ate nuts, crisps in the evening and did have a cookie too. No junkfood though. Months could pass before I'd feel like going to the chip shop. The weight just went without me having to do anything for it. All I had to do was leave him. |

As it is happy my system got back to being stable after it got totally off-kilter due to some supplements some 2 months back. Everything went noodle-doodle including my weight and steps towards losing weight.
But it seems I'm as good as back to normal in that sense. Not entirely, but for the most part. As it is I'm happy my weight is stable again. So now for getting back on track... |

@crystal .. crisps and cookies are junk food some can be healthy, snacks, it depends on how they are made and how many you eat. the simple carbs in them can also help you loose weight faster, by helping to release the carbs stored in a persons fatty tissues. when combined with healthy exercise. |

I fully agree blondie, about simple carbs in the evening.
I was speaking about during the day while your metabolic rate is highest, and your able to burn the most amount of stored fat calories. in the evening your body is more at rest, as you mentioned high proteins are best at this time cheese has a high fat content, and should be reserved mostly during the day., lean meats, and nuts are better to help feed muscles as they are at rest and recovering from the days use even berries should be avoided, vegetables are better. because they generally have less sugars . I like making cookies using things like fruit oats carrots nuts honey and raw sugar. this not only helps with energy lows, but also adds fiber. as I mentioned it just depends on how things are made, as to if they are healthy or not. and everything should be in moderation.. |

There are lower fat options available . It is a good source of calcium and contains tryptophan (as does milk) which can promote sleep . Berries are full of heart healthy antioxidants and vitamin c. While the sugar content is higher than vegetables it is not necessary to exclude them from a diet . As you said moderation is key but so is balance . Fibrous veges offer higher nutritional benefit than starch based veges . I prefer not to exclude food groups and ensure my diet is high in rainbow foods lol . I gravitate to organic .,local / non processed foods without additives or preservatives . That is more important to me . Every body has a different metabolic rate and different energy demands . My advice to anyone wanting to lose /gain or maintain weight is to understand how your own body responds , what your metabolic demands are and work from there . Think of nutrition in terms of health and try to avoid unhealthy eating patterns . Well done with the baking .. I seldom bake . If I do feel like a treat I would likely have a frozen banana or a few spoonfuls of organic Greek yogurt with berries or homemade hummus with raw organic vege sticks :-) |

@crystal .. crisps and cookies are junk food Yeah, but life is also meant to be enjoyed. We're not Spartans. As long as you do not eat bags of crisps and/or cookies it's fine. I actually rarely eat potatoes or potato products as it has a high glycemic index and are unhealthy to eat daily anyways. Rarely pork, I stopped eating that years ago. Also VERY unhealthy! But... occasionally I do eat potatoes and pork. You gotta treat yourself and if you really feel like it... |

The secret to losing weight isnβt really a secret, although itβs not always
easy to achieve. In order to lose a pound a week you have burn 3500 more calories a week than you consume. If you have a fitbit it is super easy to track! :) |

If you have a fitbit it is super easy to track! :) That's not entirely true. Once you reach a certain weight your body just will not allow you to lose anymore. I believe they call the term plateaued and it's extremely hard to lose anymore if your at that stage. |

Sometimes you may need to raise your calorie count for a few days, change up your workout, etc. things to trick your metabolism to adjust to your weight loss. It can be frustrating though for sure! |

I'm no saint either... I still love my chocolate cake and ice cream LOL. |
