Why are people obsessed with personality types and being born under a sign? Especially when it comes to dating sites (sometimes I see Hogwarts houses as well even the sorting hat doesn't care) this is some sort of a standard now apparently. I don't understand people looking for pie charts or approval of distant stars to have relationships and They both look like extreme measures to me (in my humble opinion). What are your thoughts on the matter?
Also I did the test (I found it boring) ended up being an INTJ(?) aaand my sign is Cancer. |

Interesting I was curious on the subject of "why they seek these traits(wrong term?) in each other?". |

Personality test can be really great tools to get insight in self.
So is astrology. And it can tell a lot and help as it's very accurate, but you can let all these things become an obstacle too and try to get a connection based too much on such things. Nevertheless, there are certain starsigns that I don't resonate with and this is the case for 9 out of 10 of these signs. So then I feel it's rather pointless to give that yet another shot. I did a few years ago, and the same annoying traits that seems to come with that sign surfaced yet again. There are also certain signs I resonate really well with. It may seems odd if you're not knowledgeable in that field, but if I look at all my best friends throughout life... they were all from the same sign. Some signs aren't in my life at all, and those are usually the ones I have nothing in common or to share with. As I said the only thing is to make it not too big a factor so you don't rule out the heart/feelings. |

Never mind me I was being sarcastic, thank you for your input as a member of the opposing gender (whom are more interested/knowledged in such topics than me). |

Hi Guney and welcome to the forms
I can understand and respect why people rely on such guidance .. belief patterns once established can be difficult to disengage ... and yes they do influence behaviour and perception. Such influence can be positive or negative depending on the level of importance assigned to the belief . Personally , I don’t use astrological influence or personality testing when it comes to dating /relationships .. I I base the experience more on chemistry and how we communicate/interact . I have certainly never discounted someone as a potential date because of a theoretical star sign incompatibility . |

I think that the people who use astrology signs to read someone's personality are controlling and obsessive.

As with most mysticism the validity comes AFTER you read or hear it.
You read the sign for your birthdate and say 'oh yeah, that fits me". Someone tells your fortune and you watch for it to happen and when it does its "oh yeah, they were right". The thing about birth signs is the fact the planets line up in a certain configuration on the day you were born. Thing is...you were already alive for 9 months in the womb. You would think if there was any significance to YOU it would be a sign for the day you were conceived. But, planets align in many different patterns many times in history. Since the whole Universe is in motion, each alignment is unique to itself. Thus, to be valid at all, birth signs would need to be specific to the day, year, decade, century, millennium, age and eon for all time for each person according to where on Earth they were born at. As for personality types, I choose alignments over p-types. Lawful Good Neutral Good Chaotic Good Lawful Neutral True Neutral Chaotic Neutral Lawful Evil Neutral Evil Chaotic Evil Source: http://easydamus.com/alignment.html It shows how I align with others. Still there's a bit of work involved to make it make sense applied to people (designed for a game). Once ya understand it does have validity. Not a deciding factor in relationship building but a quick guide to compatibility in a potential. Basically, I'm okay with whatever anyone chooses to use to make their choices, lots of things other people do never make sense to me. I find most people irrational and insane (generally speaking). |

In my opinion, just go on the date if she agrees to a date, that is the only way to discover if you both want to continue dating, and if you do, only time will tell how the relationship develops. As an alternative, you can always consult the Magic 8-ball before any romance. |

It is indeed scary accurate, which to me is enough proof to take an interest and at times consult it. And I've learnt a lot about certain things with it. Including something peculiar that tended to happen in my love life. I now know why that is. |
