You do know I’m gonna be tracking you now? Another stalker... and another female one I just had a brainstorm! I've been fixated on getting to Hot Springs early so I can enjoy a few days there. Obviously Spirit has other plans, or things would have gone more smoothly, haha. So instead of making Hot Springs my goal, I will stop and smell the roses along the way. I don't have reservations in Hot Springs until Sunday, so if I want to stop somewhere else and explore that area, it would be feasible to do so. I can either stop in Wichita and spend the day there tomorrow, or some other place, like Tulsa... Or any place I feel the energy calling me to. |

I’m sure you’ll know the right place to stopover instinctively once you arrive ‘there’.
Enjoy your adventure! |

Thanks I shall!

Sounds like a much better and more fun way to travel than trying to get from A to B to C as fast as you can, arriving exhausted, and then doing it again the next day, and the next. And hey, Wichita has a taco place, haha. Yammie!!! Oh and don't complain about another female stalker! Beats a creepy male one so don't jinx it In any case, travel safe and smell the roses |

Didn't get a chance to smell the roses, lol. The route google took me on took forever with all the construction. I traveled a total of 450 miles today. I'm totally exhausted. Right now I'm in Arkansas City, Kansas.
It was nice to get off the Interstate for a while. Hardly any traffic and much prettier scenery. But getting on the turnpike in around Wichita, holy cow... people suddenly turned into maniacs. I have two possible routes to take tomorrow to Hot Springs. One is 363 miles which includes getting on the turnpike for a bit. The other is 421 miles, but no turnpikes. It goes on the Interstate for a bit but is mostly country roads. Problem with country roads is sometimes there's nothing for quite a long time. The 421 miles route goes through the mountains, with a lot of twists and turns. Would be beautiful, so long as I don't get car sick, haha. I'm too tired to think, so I'll decide in the morning. I'd like to just get there quickly, but taking the other route would also be nice. I can always stay somewhere halfway in between and still get to Hot Springs early on Sunday. Hmmm, that might not be a bad idea. Goodnight all |

Hope you’re having a good traveling day, and make it to your destination safely!
I’m getting tired just thinking about all those miles you’ve traveled so far.... |

Dee It was a nice day driving today. I started out later than I wanted to, but that's okay. I spent way too much time trying to decide which route to take, lol. So my mystery man, friend from Alabama, mapped out my route for me. The goal was to stay off the Interstates and Turnpikes as much as possible. Made the ride a lot longer, but it was well worth it. I did end up taking I-40 for about an hour and a half though. Wasn't too bad.
I'm in Russellville, Arkansas. It's about 72 miles from Hot Springs, so it will only take me an hour and 40 minutes to get there in the morning. Well, probably longer because it's Hwy 7, a very scenic windy turny ride through the mountains. I will want to stop, if possible, to take pictures. Hopefully they will have the turnouts so I can. By time I got here, I was exhausted. I decided to wait until morning when I can fully enjoy the ride. Driving all day wipes me out! The dang snow storm totally disrupted my original plans to take it slow so I could enjoy the scenery along the way. Either that or I was going to get there quickly so I'd have four full days instead of two. Oh well, chit happens, lol. And I did get two days to relax. Hope you're having a wonderful weekend |

The past week has certainly been interesting, and a definite test of how much resilience and patience I have, haha. I started out early on Monday, so I could do a little sight seeing along the way. Only Mother Nature stepped in and I was snowed in for a couple of days. Then with all the construction on the roads, both the highways and the Interstates, it took a lot longer to get here than I anticipated. The last two days were like shopping days for some women, I drove til I was about to drop,
My cabin in Hot Springs will be ready at 3pm, that gives me plenty of time this morning to take my time driving the scenic route. And stop to get some photos. Then explore Hot Springs a little before checking into my cabin. Can't wait to sit outside, under the stars, with a nice little campfire. I will, of course, wait until the sun comes before heading out. Before heading out, I will treat myself to a nice breakfast at the IHOP (International House of Pancakes). I love their fruit and nut covered pancakes. Then get that oil change I was supposed to get in Rock Springs, haha. I pretty sure Gypsy (my car) will appreciate having, and run much smoother over the mountains with, a fresh supply of oil. So far, since leaving in April, she's ran great and together we traveled a total of 10,104 miles with one oil change after about 6,000 miles. The lower elevation seems to be agreeing with me... Absolutely no vertigo symptoms with driving the last three days, yay! |

Remote little town... That's pretty much the entire town, lol |

I-80 during the snow storm. It was really nice to not hear traffic for a change, but definitely weird, lol |

My little cabin in Hot Springs... Hot springs is a lot bigger and busier than I realized. I'm so glad I went with a cabin in the woods instead of staying at a motel. I went out on the porch earlier, when the moon was still out. It was nice and peaceful, and comforting to know I could just sit there and relax... without having to watch out for bears |

Dee, thanks
No, the snow was when I got snowed in last week. I just hadn't posted on my FB page until today so couldn't post pics here yet. The log cabin is where I'm at now. Unfortunately I have to leave tomorrow Tonight is my second night. I had a lot of fun today. Soaked in the thermal pools, visited the alligator farm and petting zoo, drove up a mountain that went round and round all the way to the top, and then sat outside under the stars next to my campfire. I did pretty good with getting the fire going. I got to hold a baby alligator, and feed them. And played with miniature goats. So adorable! I will post pictures later. Tomorrow's destination... as close to Destin, Florida as I can possibly get. It's too far to get there tomorrow, about 644 miles. But I can probably drive 444. Then on Wednesday I'll only have a couple hundred. I can lounge on the beach while waiting for my room. Hope you had a wonderful weekend and great Monday! |
