Haha, I love google! When I looked at the radar, I saw a little patch of weather, but it didn't look big or like it was going to last long. I guess it grew! I think Spirit wanted me to rest for an extra day. I have a nice tub and bubble bath, and wifi, so I'm good, lol. Spirit is watching over you and allowing you to be a Lady of Luxury :) And a good start in the morning, sounds good! Yes! And my room has photos of horses, I absolutely love horses! A few others weren't so lucky, at least their cars weren't. They are still alive, so that's a blessing and a miracle. I passed by a car that had flipped over on the West bound side. While I was checking into the motel, he came in to get a room. He was a little scratched up, but otherwise fine. Then later, I saw the tow truck bring an entire family to the motel. Wow... Spirit IS watching you for sure! Keep following your intuition hihi. Lol, had I followed it correctly, I would have stayed in Rock Springs. Then I could have at least gotten a haircut and maybe coloring. Looks like I'm here for another night in a very remote town with nothing to do but chill, lol On the other hand, since everything happens for a reason, perhaps I'm not to worry about my hair... just relax and be grateful I'm alive and well. I'm in a very peaceful town with little traffic and staying in a cute little cottage like room. It did look like a one-horse town on Google Maps, hihi. But hey, no haircut, but you got the truckstop and if it takes long you could still go for Mexican, hahaha. And even though you may not have heeded intuition and stayed in Rock Springs... you DID get a room! The next one didn't, so yep, angels are watching over you! Yes they are! And I'm 280 miles closer to my destination, haha. |

Interstate 80 update... Everything is opened back up, roads are wet and slick in some areas, but good to go. All together 354 miles of I-80 was closed last night, that's a lot of highway to closed down.
I'm still staying put for the night, I already paid for the room. Plus with it opening up, it's going to be a nightmare for the next few hours. everyone making a mad dash to gain ground. Very high potential for a lot more accidents. Hopefully all is well for an early morning departure. |

Sounds like a good plan! Enjoy the evening and have a good start in the morning, feeling fresh & fruity, as we say, hihi.

Travel Update... WooHoo, as of right now there are no accidents or closures. Just a few slick spots along the way.
I'll be waiting until it starts getting light out to leave, about two hours from now. Some of the slick spots are right in this area, I want to be able to clearly see the road. Today's destination is Ogallala, Nebraska. It's about 350 miles from here. A tad short of my daily goal, but safety comes first. Hopefully tomorrow, when I'm out of the wintry weather and poor road conditions, I'll be able to make up some time. |

Thanks Bonnie When are you going to Poland, that's coming up soon huh? Leaving tomorrow night! My daughter is meeting me there. She's bringing me some of my favorite treats from the USA, plus things like Hamburger Helper and instant oatmeal packets. I miss that stuff! |

Sounds like a good plan River Thanks Delightful I'm learning it's great to make plans, but to also be prepared to alter them if things don't go quite as planned. Last couple days helped me with that "go with the flow" mentality, haha. |

That's quite a ways from Rock Springs! Hope you had a safe trip.
And then you go on to Omaha and then down to Kansas City? Looking at the distances I'm glad I don't have to drive, hahaha. Brave girl, you! If I have to drive 120kms (75 miles) I've had it. |

@ Delightful... Thanks, I did!
@ Crystal... No, I'll be taking a different route. I made it to Ogallala around 2:30 mountain time, and felt pretty good so decided to go another 50 miles. I'm in North Platte for the night. The extra 50 miles did me in, haha. North Platte is in Central time so I lost an hour, as it's an hour later. From here, I'll be heading South on Highway 83, then getting on I-70 to Salina, Kansas, then heading down I-135 and I-35 to the other roads that take me to Hot Springs. The only major cities I'll be going through is Wichita, Kansas and Tulsa, Oklahoma. My plan tomorrow is to go about 400 miles again, or maybe a tad more if I am feeling good. I'd like to get to Hot Springs early on Saturday. @ Dee... Thanks, it was pretty good weather, just a little snow flurries near Cheyenne, and then some rain just before getting to North Platte. The roads were pretty good, except for going through the mountain passes. Some areas had only one lane due to snow and ice, but the other lane was okay. Over all... It was a nice trip, hardly any traffic. I'm still moving But I'm not feeling motion sickness, just a little wobbly, haha. |

Slight change of plans
I'll be staying on I-80 until just before Kearney, NE. Then head south on Hwy 183. This way I can leave while it's still dark out, I'm more comfortable traveling the Interstate Highways, than the State Highways, while it's still dark. So long as the weather is good, haha. With the change to Central time, and being so close to Mountain time, if I waited for sunrise, I'd be leaving close to 8am. That's way too late, I like getting started a lot earlier. Hwy 183 is about 84 miles from here, about 1 hour and 15 minutes. I can leave around 6am or 6:30 at the latest and get a couple hours of driving done before the sun comes up. Destination today.... As close to Tulsa as I can get. Most likely it will be somewhere around Blackwell, Oklahoma. |
