@ Cyrstal... Fortunately they have everyone use a step to get on the horses. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to get on one without it. I'm finding it's not as easy to do the things I did when I was younger. But I'm still determined to do those things... even if it takes me a few days to recover, haha. Right now I'm very much in need of a huge tub that I can just soak in for a few hours.
@ Dee... Yep, I'll be doing the same as it continues to cool down. I'll want that hot weather I complained about to come back. It's been in the 80's the last couple days and will continue to be that until around Monday. Then that's the last of it, according to the forecast. It will be in the 60's and 70's until late September. Towards the end of September, it's expected to dip down into the 20's at night. I hope you have a wonderful weekend as well. |

Great pics River. Thanks for sharing and I’m glad you had fun. Hope you get to go horse riding again soon Thanks Delightful I probably won't do the freebie ride again with out company. They don't change trails and I want to explore other trails. There's a ranch nearby that is affordable, they take you through the river (a shallow part of it, haha).. plus they have a two hour ride. I can't do the two hour ride with my company. Not sure my body will be okay with the two hour ride though. I'll have to try and do it on a Thursday, so I can go soak in the hot springs on Friday. |

But I can also understand you want to do it anyways as it's just a helluva lot of fun! I've never really learnt to ride just in safe settings, not out in the wide open. But something about being on a horse always felt so familiar! Maybe a past life thing? The smell of the leather and horse, the creaking of the saddle, the way the horse moves etc. It just feels so damned good! I can really understand you wanting to do it, even a longer trip! I hope it works out and you get to do it. |

It's the same with me, very familiar. I'm sure I've been on a horse in another lifetime. I never needed a whole lot of instruction on how to ride, it seems to just come natural.
I'll probably wait until right after Labor Day, when it's not so populated with tourists. A lot of the schools are opening back up again, so there will be less people traveling while having their kids due virtual school. Today is the last day for me to take advantage of free kayaking. I decided to skip it, my body wants to rest today. There's a place close by, Signal Mountain, that has kayaking, so I might go there in the next few weeks. If not, I'll be in the Florida Keys this winter, and there's plenty of opportunity to kayak there. Plus it will be free depending on where I'm working. Most of the resorts have kayaks and let their employees do it for free. Only downside is that there aren't any mountains in the Keys. Kayaking on a lake with mountains all around would be cool. |

Went out searching for moose a couple weeks ago... I finally found some. I hadn't seen any since right after I got here. It was a pretty exciting day for me.

I've never seen a moth like this before. She or he was flying around outside the front door of the gas station...

During my adventure to find the moose, I was also blessed to run across a small herd of Elk.

Fall colors have arrived... which means it's almost time to go. Only 30 more days until the store closes, and I leave 4 days after that.
These were taken today, the mountains are pretty visible today. There have been some days that it was so smoky you wouldn't have seen the mountain in the above picture. |

I stopped by Jackson Lake Dam today, holy cow it looks so different than when I first got here. They drained it because Idaho needed the water for the farms and the fires.

Wow 🤩 those are really nice pics
Fall is definitely in the air here. The leaves are already starting to change in some places, and my brother actually had to rake some that had fallen in his yard today. It’s starting to get a lot cooler at night, too I’m not ready for that yet! That’s a really big difference in the lake since you first got there! I hope those wildfires have been contained some by now....haven’t heard much about them on the news. Hope you have a great weekend! |

Thanks Dee And I'm glad your profile picture is back, you look fabulous
Hopefully this past week will be it for the hot weather. The smoke gets worse when it's hot outside. They don't have them contained yet. Lake Tahoe evacuated recently. But hopefully September will bring lots of rain. Yeah, it's the first time I've seen the dam since they drained it. The marina where I work is completely dry as well. It looks so weird I hope you have a great weekend as well |

Hot weather is slightly overrated. Spring and Fall are, in my opinion, definitely better options. Thanks for sharing River.

Absolutely beautiful photos river .. you should consider doing a photography course and making money from your gift . The one of the moth is visually stunning . You are certainly living in a special place

I didn't see any pictures of elk. It's between the moth and the fawn. There are two of them. |
|
|
|
They are not elk.

Elk are very large, almost like a moose or a very large deer.
