Currently re-watching the series Stalker, of which there is only 1 season unfortunately.
I'm watching it for research for one of my books. They did mention numbers of people being stalked in America, and that the US has a very high stalking rate. 1 out of 6 women!!! Men much less, if memory serves 1 out of 30. And not just celebs. Only 15% of all people being stalked are celebs. So it's the average Joe and Jill. Usually people you know that hold a grudge etc. Of course there's different types of stalkers. And numbers have and are increasing big time due to social media. It has never happened to me, thank goodness! But I'm wondering... have you ever been stalked, or maybe still are? 1 out of 6 women is a helluva lot! And if you were, how did it resolve itself? |

Was stalked twice. One girl, I met in a cat group on FB. This was relatively harmless. But then my ex wife stalked me, telling lies about me at a parents teacher meeting and opened my post

Yes, in college.
Started getting mail saying he was watching me undress every night for bed. Called the cops, they came and investigated, but I had no idea who it could be, mail was local. I was in the basement level of a home with 5 college roommates and they found a seat/clearing outside my window and footprints. They never found who it was and the only thing that kept me from obsessing over it for years was he kept mentioning seeing me in my 'pink' nightie and I did not have one. |

No. I don't eat celery. However, my daughter is currently dealing with a stalker. |

I think I still have a stalker, unless she gave up.
I Moved to a different house a year ago; and at shop nearby getting milk the checkout guy said someone was watching me; I thought he was talking about the cameras everywhere there. Then at my boat workshop at home things were moved about a little bit now and then, just enough to notice. But there were weirdos around and we also got robbed/burgled so I didn't think much of it. I put a camera but nothing moved and never saw anyone, and one day I didn't notice anything and erased the video as usual, and later saw a sign that someone made differently than usual, so I got her on video and erased the proof without seeing who it was. Duh. I think it was/is a girl living nearby who I wanted to date and gave up on chasing, about 25 years ago, when I lived and studied nearby. She is the prime suspect, a graphic artist, with spatial awareness and eye for detail, and knows me well. Consistent with the type of signs left for me. Or it's an ex girlfriend from 35 years ago, who may still live in the area. I still don't know who, and with the covid19BS inconvenience, all signs have stopped. I still place the camera though, waiting. It's nice to know that someone cares enough to mess with me. |

Once when out hunting I could hear something behind me, guessing it was a bobcat. Women run the other way.

In that sense I'm lucky my ex never did. He's a narcissist, which I found out after we broke up, and apparently narcissists often turn to stalking. But my ex had already found a replacement of me, which hurt me tremendously but might have saved my hiney! |

But I'm wondering... have you ever been stalked, or maybe still are? 1 out of 6 women is a helluva lot! And if you were, how did it resolve itself? Interesting how stalking is usually gender oriented? Men stalking women or women stalking men. When I was shop manager in PA I was stalked by a co-worker. I was shop manager and he was my parts manager. I must have pist him off early on because this guy followed me around and constantly inserted himself into my work. He followed me home, the beach and to stores. If he didn't know where I was at, he would call with some lame question wanting to know when I would return. He would question my mechanics about me. He would go to the general manager anytime I made a decision that didn't fit with his beliefs. I eventually resigned and moved back to St Louis to get away from him. His harassment bordered on workplace harassment and after I left the shop (I stayed with the company) I found out he did get fired for harassing other employees. I have had some women not let go after a break-up. I figure it was just part of the school mentality. I've experienced no stalking post-marriage but I did have a few uncomfortable associations while I was married but I allowed it no quarter. I'm just sayin, there are different ways one can be stalked and it doesn't always include gender stalking. |

For men it's different, look at these numbers. Yes, there are different types of stalkers and different reasons for someone doing Two-thirds (66.2%) of female victims of stalking were stalked by a current or former intimate partner; men were primarily stalked by an intimate partner or an acquaintance, 41.4% and 40.0%, respectively. Have you ever been stalked?
If you use the legal definition? Yes. If you use the Hollywood or social media definition? I don't think so. |
