Topic: Thank a driver? | |
---|---|
Hi! I'm Jay! I'm a truck driver and I'm just curious as to how everyone feels about truck drivers today?
I know this pandemic has everyone in their feelings stuck at home. But we, as drivers, has not stopped. Just curious. Peace, love and happiness! Jay |

So many people haven't stopped... The ones who work in supermarkets, shops, petrol stations, healthcare, police, and all the tens of thousands who work at home now.
It's not like most have a vacation except truckdrivers. Most people are still working. As for truckdrivers... I find trucks annoying. They hold up traffic, cause traffic jams, take over when the truck in front drives half a km/phr slower even if it takes him 10 minutes and it's holding up loads of cars behind him. They're a nuisance, hindering other people who also have to go to work. |

No inconvenient trucks = no toilet paper, no face masks, no food, no fuel, no heating, no council maintenance works, no hospital supplies, no clothes and bedding, no agricultural supplies, no junk mail, no pottery and weaving supplies, etc.
Trucks here have a sign: Trucks keep this country moving. Rigids are good, 18's are good, B doubles and triples are a pain, road trains are scary. Keep the bugs of your bumper, and the bears off your tail. |

Eh been loading and unloading them for 25 years or so. So as crystals first sentence states. Truckers are not the only ones still working.
So what do I think about truckers? "They can drive a million miles forward, but can't back up 50 feet. " |

Truck mechanic here. Had a 30 year career working on those trucks you drive.
I had to have a valid CDL w/air so I could drive them too. I had to know how to drive them on the highway too. I've backed many a 70' into a shop bay in the winter at night. I was subject to the same DOT laws, OSHA regs and driving limitations as the drivers but I also had to know the equipment in and out. The trucking industry is vital to the way we know modern life. Truckers are important. Thank you. Just remember, behind every trucker is a mechanic who keeps him trucking. |

Yay, steering wheel holders!

Thinking of all the long distance truck drivers, they are welcome out there. All the highways and interstates I've been on over the years, everyone should drive safely and follow driving laws. Good luck truck drivers.

My apologies. This was not to take away from any other essential job on earth. But trucks are slow because of the freight we haul to and from grocery stores and supplies and pretty much everything we as humans need for survival. Secondly it's the states that govern the speeds that trucks can travel Wich vary by states. But if there is two lanes and one truck can only travel at 65 because it's governed by the company and another truck is governed at 68 by another company, yessss, your in for a lil wait for that truck to get around the slower truck. Trust me, nobody wants to see 80,000 lbs running 90 mph. LOL.

Anything going backwards is awkward. Takes practice to master any skill or at least be good at it. 98% of the time your in a semi, forward is the way to travel, the other 2% in reverse, so makes since to me. Lol
