I support president Bush and our troops in Iraq. see thats what americans are SUPPOSED to do. Did he run it into the ground? HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would say pretty much ALL past presidents have done a pretty good job doing that as well.

What's really funny, is that after all is said and done the democratic party is lower on the polls than the president... despite the anti-war movement and all the media moan-and-groaning. I guess we just don't like any of our politicians that much in the good old USA. (Which is kinda strange for a saying, being such a relatively young nation).laugh

I was hoping people
would break for the
holidays from political
sniping (sigh).

Guess it was too
much to ask for.

All I can say now is:

Be careful who
you vote for.

They might just
become President
of the United States
of America.

the govt is a necessary evil

the problem is

that like in every republic there has ever been

the people of the united states have

become to comfortable and trusting in the govt

thus have quit living up to their responsibility

of being a citizen of a republic

if the people of a republic do not control the govt

the govt will i said WILL control the people

the united states is real close to this stage

but as long as people stay out of the voting booths

and their local govt meetings it is going to happen

and b4 you say i do not like anyone running so i do not vote

that is why they have a write in box

if everyone that did not vote wrote in a name

even if they are are different it would send a message

that WE THE PEOPLE want our country back

but it takes more than the handful of members here that are

really trying to enlighten the PEOPLE most of whom just say

we are paranoid but it is said those that

do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it

so the choice is YOURS which one will YOU make

Right adj4u.

I think this country
is at a crossroads.

The power of the
Executive Branch
has become too great
and that interferes
with the concept of
checks and balances.

If we really want
to preserve the freedoms
that people fought and
died for, we should
vote for someone who
believes that the
government is supposed
to serve the needs of
the people and not the
other way around.

I would like to see
the day when corporations
and special interests no
longer control the agenda.

I would like to see
the day when people are
able to put more trust
in their government and
elected officials.

I would also like to see
more fairness and equity
shown toward the middle
class and the poor, and
not 'the rich get richer,
the poor get poorer'.

I don't mean just giving
people money.

I mean more spending power
and job security for the poor
and middle class and less
tax breaks for the wealthy.

The middle class and poor
pay a much larger share
of taxes than the wealthy,
who pay less taxes or no
taxes in proportion to
their wealth.

It's time to make
the burden of taxation
more even.

Remember the Boston
Tea Party?

Remember one of the
main reasons the
Revolutionary War
was fought?

It was because
Britain taxed
what were then
the American
Colonies too much.

well if they would go to a flat rate sales tax

then everyone would pay for their income

no tax on basics you need a car but not a new 40,000$one

any over 10,000 with a total of 20,000 value so you can have 2 or you pay the tax

you take the average price of a house (state wide) deduct 30% and anything over that amount you pay the tax

limit one per household

i think you get the idea

But what kind
of a flat rate
tax would it be?

What are the percentages
per income distribution?

How many income tiers?

And how would this ensure
everyone pays their fair
share of taxes regardless
of income?

flat tax say 10%

no tiers

you don't spend money

you do not pay tax

the tiering would be on what is taxed

not who is taxed

basic necessity's are not taxed

but if you move up to the fancier product

guess what it is taxed

it is not an income tax

it is a buying tax

people with more money

buy more stuff

and if they buy it in another country

then they pay an import tax

mnhiker's photo
Wed 01/02/08 08:19 PM
What if it's
goods made
in another
country but
imported to
the United States?

Do they still pay
an import tax?

the import tax is paid by the importer

the sales tax is the same as anything else

Welllllll.

That means
the importer
is going to
raise the price
on the item and
pass it on to
the American
consumer, rich,
poor or middle
class.

Which ends up
to be like a
regressive tax,
especially for
the poor and
middle class.

well who do you think pays the import tax now

and who do yo think pays corporate tax

companies do not pay tax

they always have passed the cost on

it is called the cost of doing business

anything any company pays is added on to the

cost of the service/product they supply
