Topic: Letters? | |
---|---|
I just listened to that old song about getting a letter, "My baby's wrote me a letter". Got me to remember when I was a kid getting letters from girlfriends. Such things weren't needed because we could hangout or just talk on the phone.
Haven't wrote a letter in decades now. I could write to family if I really wanted to. It's easier to just call them up to talk. So what's your thoughts on writing letters and sending them through the mail or then email nowadays? |

A handwritten letter is always good, otherwise the only thing I get is junk mail and bills.

Email is fine (I text and email my family all the time) but there's always something special about composing a good letter.

I used to love getting letters and postcards, emails txt's and live streams have replaced them nowadays I guess..

I got a friend in the UK who travels quite regularly with her hubby. I once ask as a joke to sent me a postcard, and the dear, she did. I got a few more after that :)
The first one was from Hawaii, got one from the Bahamas, Canada etc. As for writing, do that as little as possible, hihi. Cos of the way I hold my pen, puts too much stress on my hand. Email -sending & receiving- is just fine. |

Yes nearly all email / text now , real paper junk mail angers me because of the waste of energy producing colourful rubbish to be hauled around in planes /trains/ vans ,get processed in mail centres then thrown away ,not bothered about Christmas cards either , but birthday cards from my children and young grandchildren ( sometimes hand made ) really cheer me up

With the price of postage stamps going up nowadays,
I seldom write letters and send by postal mail anymore. And since much of my family is dead and gone now and I don't have a significant other, I basically send e-mail and do text/video visits with friends, classmates and colleagues on social media from my laptop. I don't have a mobile unit to do any online activity. |

Mostly emails, but I do send letters to friends because in a way it feels more personal and I enjoy writing them not typing them. I also send Post Cards, recently on holiday here in England I had to visit several shops in a traditional seaside town before finding any Post Cards for sale. It does seem sending them is becoming a thing of the past. |

I always loved receiving ans sending letters. It seems much more personal to me. Maybe we should start doing pen pals. I remember doing that in school and how exciting it was to hear of new places and people.

I used to hand write letters but no longer do so due to email and text messaging.
It does remind me of when I used to hand write covering letters (as opposed to printing them from computer) with my CV to prospective employers. One time the interviewer told me that she selected me due to my lovely handwriting. Oh, I didn't get the job hehe |

I remember doing that in school and how exciting it was to hear of new places and people. Loved the note you left under the wiper blade of my car. Though i was a bit unsettled by the "know you're a heavy sleeper" part. But, still. |

I still write letters from time to time but I have very nice pennmanship.
I once landed a job because of my pennmanship. At least that's what the boss told me. I also receive letters pretty regularly, mostly from my daughter. Always handwritten. I buy forever stamps. |
