People who like Obama thought he was great. Those of us who felt he was damaging
the economy, being a goofball bowing to Arabian leaders and kissing their rings, and all the other stupid things he did --well, it just was downright embarrassing to REAL AMERICANS. Now Michelle Obama has interviewed with the Smollett trial by talking to the DA ahead of time, and as media has reported, she spoke in favor of Smollett. When will the Clintons and Obamas realize we are tired of them, their arrogance and their interference. Frankly I hope Hillary runs for office again so we can teach her once and for all that NO ONE wants her in politics.

Why lie about your father's place of birth?

Trump keeps claiming his father was born in Germany. It was the Bronx.

"Speaking to reporters in the White House Tuesday, President Trump misstated his father’s place of birth as Germany, rather than New York City.

“My father is German, right? Was German. And born in a very wonderful place in Germany, so I have a great feeling for Germany,” Trump said during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who is from Norway.

Trump’s father, Frederick Christ Trump, was born in the Bronx on Oct. 11, 1905".
Tuesday’s misstatement was not the first time that the president has incorrectly identified his father’s birthplace. In a 2018 interview with “Fox News Sunday,” Trump did the same.

Hmmm, I wouldnt think being a goofball, OR arrogance OR interference were really a concern for Trump supporters,

Mr. "I know more than military generals or our intelligence community"
Mr. "I have a genius IQ but don't want you to see my grades.
Mr. "Players who kneel during the anthem should be fired"

as far as the economy. Facts are facts. It totally depends upon which facts people focus on. But considering what economy WAS when he came in. I find it hard to not laugh at the idea that he was 'damaging' what he came into.

I still personally think he is like the Emperor with No Clothes, his PREVIOUS 'success' has been reinvented so others believe he is STILL at that level. He seems to be like most other elders who are facing senility, IMHO. but his gold toilet reputation creates the illusion of mere eccentricity instead.

In simple terms the difference between Obama and Trump:

Obama believes and had an administration that believed the purpose of government was to help those who are unwilling or unable to help themselves. They did this through expanded social programs and attempts to play Robin Hood. Democrats want to significantly expand that concept if they can.

Trump and his administration believes that personal prosperity is the responsibility of the individual person. The governments function is to provide a strong economy and a level playing field for all so they can prosper from their own hard work. This was the way America was until somebody in government decided that government needed programs to end poverty and created the start of the current welfare state.

These, in my opinion, are overstated misnomers. There is a big difference in helping whose 'unwilling' to help themselves and those 'unable' to help themself, firstly.

also the concept of 'personal prosperity' through 'individual' responsibility is not something that either party strongly truly supports, as shown by how few of them got to where they are through 'individual' responsiblity, but through systems and networks that like it or not were also set up to help those 'not willing or able' to work quite so HARD to do it 'themselves.'

The biggest non bias different in the party platforms were that one side wanted bigger government and the other smaller government. and through the founding up until today, those sides have changed parties AND names at least once. One side has been 'conservative' wanting the preferences the systems built in for THEM preserved on the backs of others. and the other side has been 'liberal' wanting preferences to be demolished at the sacrifice of others.

Both platforms involve a concept of giving and taking, but disagree on who should be doing either side of that equation.

to read more of the similarities and differnces,

http://democrats.org/about/party-platform/#preamble

http://prod-static-ngop-pbl.s3.amazonaws.com/media/documents/DRAFT_12_FINAL[1]-ben_1468872234.pdf

Party planks have excellent wordsmithing so most politicians can "interpret" the plank to fit their situation and constituents. We can each read what we want into those platforms.

You seem to believe there are systems and networks that some can use to get ahead while others do not have access to those systems and networks. While that might be true in limited cases, everyone has an opportunity to excel if they wish to. You might not be able to get into a prestigious college but you can easily get into a community college or vocational school to start climbing the ladder of success. To come up with a number of reasons why you can't just says you don't want to do the work necessary. The roll of government should be to give each that opportunity and a level playing field; if you fail, that is your problem not the governments!

I agree that there are people that are unable to get ahead because of physical or mental handicaps but most of the people who are failures do not have those significant handicaps. They fail because they are unwilling to learn how to be successful and apply those lessons to their lives. You see them every day in society.

And you seem to assume that she talking about those that need a "handout" NOT A "handup" sir !
Most turn their lives around thanks to the good graces of goverment agencies that step in when all else is failling for them and become productive and succesful .
Yes you do have those that are a product of there situation and just stay down and live off of society .
But most of those have either mental or drug dependentcies holding them back and lack of health care doesnt help .
Not all is what it seems ! "You cant teach a starving man to fish until you've filled his belly first "

Thank you for making my point! If you are 30 years old and still needing that handup, it is a waste of effort! When welfare is multi-generational, they didn't turn their lives around. Being drug dependent and returning to drugs after treatment is a personal failure - don't waste more effort on them.

If we teach a person to fish, how to clean the fish, how to cook the fish and then provide them the equipment needed and they take what we have given them to the pawn shop, who has failed? What should we do with that person? Should we try again or put our efforts to someone else who might be a success? It seems there is a large group of people we should just let go hungry and live under a bridge; they will either die or change their lives for the better. Society improves either way!!

Mental health issues are an area with potential that society has totally failed at. We did a great disservice to those people when we kicked most of them out on the street instead of providing a controlled environment for them. Some, with ongoing treatment, can lead a productive life while others need constant oversight and supervision. Our regulations prevent the existence of a controlled environment for the mentally ill except when we declare them a danger to themselves or society; we continue to just throw the rest back out in the street to fend for themselves. Often they end up involved with the legal system instead of the health system where they should be.

Trump had several thousand for his rally in Michigan, whereas O'Rourke only had about 500 at his rally in El Paso. There are so many Dems wanting to be president that they are spending all their money a year before election rallies even start.

Al Jazeera's Andy Gallacher has this report from rural Florida.:

affordable housing in the US is not just a problem in big cities. US housing crisis: New focus on rural area.
More and more Americans are struggling to pay their rent - and the problem is not just limited to major cities. Politicians met on Tuesday to discuss the growing housing crisis in rural areas which leaves millions without a decent place to live.

If we have problems now, think how much worse it will be with people pouring over our southern border. Are we to displace Americans and give their apartments to illegals?

"After being contacted by a Chicago attorney who served as former first lady Michelle Obama’s chief of staff, the top prosecutor in Cook County asked the city’s top cop to turn over the Jussie Smollett probe to the FBI, according to reports".

ONE issue with that concern is there are NOT people 'pouring' over our southern border. Even as the housing problem has increased , border crossings have been DECREASING.

And I dont think its as simple as difference in political parties.
We see that in the following years, there were over a million illegal crossings
2000, 2004-2006

If we look at leadership in those years that correspond:

2000, Clinton(D) president 2004-2006, GW Bush(R) president

2000, Senate and house Majority Republican 2004-2006 Senate and house Majority Republican

the border has been used for a smokescreen in elections whether the numbers go up or down, unfortunately

ANOTHER issue is that apartments are not GIVEN away, either one affords them or they dont. And though Americans are struggling to pay rent, they still MAKE quite a bit more on average than someone here illegally, making it unlikely the illegal will be any more capable of affording those apartments either.

The need for housing in southwest Iowa is so acute that each new obituary reads like a real estate listing.

"The joke is that good homes sell at the funeral home," said Manning City Clerk Dawn Meyer.

This story of Iowans desperately looking for suitable housing is hardly unique to Manning.

At the inaugural Iowa Rural Development Summit in 2016, organizers heard the same complaint over and over: There just is not enough housing outside of Iowa's booming metropolitan areas.

The problem is widespread, affecting small communities in every corner of the state. And it runs deep.

"It's owner-occupied housing. It's new construction. It's rehab of existing homes. It's multi-unit rentals. It's affordable housing. It's senior housing," said Bill Menner, director of the Iowa Rural Development Council. "Communities are struggling with every one of those elements."

Demand is so great that many Iowa communities have already taken matters into their own hands, offering creative financing or incentives for new homes and renovations. And one Des Moines-area builder is considering an entire division devoted to building new homes in rural Iowa.

President Trump has tried to halt the arrival of undocumented migrants by beefing up border security, limiting who qualifies for asylum and, for a while, separating migrant children from their parents at the border. However, figures released on Tuesday suggest that those measures are failing to deter tens of thousands of migrants from journeying over land to the United States.

Indeed, after shriveling to the smallest total in five decades, the number of migrants intercepted at the southern border — the best indicator of how many undocumented people are entering the United States — is soaring again.

Border authorities detained nearly twice as many migrants — 268,044 — in the first five months of the fiscal year that started in October than were detained in the same period the previous year.

there has been no one 'voting' for an 'open border'.

But more to the point, The US is already too litigious. What would be next, suing all those who vote for arming cops every time one of them shoots an 'innocent' or unarmed citizen? or sue those who vote to for deregulations every time a product ends in a user dying?

perhaps putting out the image that we will be becoming anti immigrant is causing people to feel a bit more pressured to get here while they can ..?

Maybe what was already working should be left to continue working?
