I'd like to know someone for a long time before even living together. I agree. I also wouldn't ever do anything involving my private life on TV....it's called a private life for a reason. Beside "reality" TV has become extremely unrealistic....they are about entertainment which is why I watch them when nothing I find MORE entertaining on TV. |

Smartazz, just entertainment for me. I wonder why people would go that far to be on tv to meet someone.

Cat, I think the only reason go on those shows is because they want attention. I also watch them because I feel better about myself after seeing the people who are on those shows.

A long way to go just to be on tv, and you drag your whole family on this show.

By the way, if you decide to marry at first sight, what if you are not attracted to each other? Forget about it! (Said with a Tony Soprano accent) |

I'd not want to marry someone I'm not attracted to.

I think some of those marriages are still together.

I would never marry anyone at first sight, doesn't matter how beautiful they looked on the outside as I wouldn't know anything about how beautiful they are on the inside.
I went with my ex for 5 years before we got married and it lasted for 27 years. We had some rough patches and separated twice before mutually ending it but we remain friends for the sake of our two daughters who appreciate it that we are friends. I've been on my own for 20 years and would like to get married again if I found a compatible lady. I think once people get older they think twice about it which is understandable. I'm always looking and enjoy watching people wondering if they would be compatible with me. |

River, I've this show a a lot, not every episode and they are usually people that are tired of dating but want to be married for a lifetime. They rely on these "experts" to find it for them. I would not do it. It's just entertainment. watching them go through the wedding, honeymoon and what happens next. I think you have found the main reason, "the people want to be married". Some people cannot live alone, and these people must have reached a point where they are prepared to marry anyone, and as already said by others, if they have a failed marriage or two behind them, they could also see it as a good idea. Certainly not for me, if a mistake in choice of marital partner is made, at least it will be mine and no one else's. |

Anyone watch that show? Would you ever do that? Not seen the show. Here in the UK. Couples intending to marry must give a minimum of 28 days notice to the registry office where the legal ceremony takes place, so a similar show would be impossible here. It takes the same time before a Civil Partnership ceremony can take place. May be a Friend with Benefits non legally binding ceremony deal would work? Same here: you need to inform your local municipal government about your marriage AT LEAST 2 weeks prior to the date. I believe it used to be a longer period. Two weeks ain't much as it is. But marrying on the spot... maybe if a show got special permits, but I doubt they'd do that. After all there's a reason why there is a waiting period. In a way it's a replacement of the US question "Does anyone here not agree or know why these two shouldn't/can't get married?" We used to have government announcements about such things in special displays in each village/town as well where things like planned weddings would be on too so the public was informed. Not sure if they still do that, but I remember seeing it used 6 years ago still. |

I'd not marry at first sight. Marriage to me is almost Sacred. I hope one day to get married once I've met the right man. I also want a handfasting.
It means too much to me to marry at first sight. I think it takes people who are totally desperate or very adventurous and not taking it too serious to do something like that? . . . |

What happens in Vegas.... Ends up on the news? Nah, the convoluted conspiracy theory twists of the tale makes for exponentially stupid numbers of likes and hits on the social media channels these days before the news has a chance at contrived attempts for the 1% profiting. ;0) Yeah, I should lighten up the coffee a tad I guess. ;0) |

I caught a glimpse of that show a few weeks ago .. a couple divorced right after their honeymoon ...
Some of their matches seem a little off .. they matched a woman with a phobia of dogs with a man who had a dog .. unsure if they are still married .. probably not . |

Mingle should sponsor a weekend get together in Las Vegas. Someone licensed to preform marriages could be in attendance in case some people decide they want to get married at first sight.

That Vegas trip will have to have lot of drinking going on, and what about the next day?
