I actually had to stop and let them cross the sidewalk about ten feet in front of me.... I so wanted to play with them
![]() And it hit me... ![]() One of the deer hit you? Maybe they wanna play too. ![]() No silly, they didn't hit me. I was walking. The deer are all over the place here, especially today with the snow melting. They walk right up to the buildings and look in the windows, lol They have the right of way, so if they are on the sidewalk, you either have to wait or go around them. Being closer than 20 feet isn't recommended but sometimes it can't be helped because they didn't get the memo ![]() And I'm sure they wanna play too ![]() |

That's cool JBH ![]() This past summer I got on a tube behind my son's in-law's boat. I almost said no, I'm 56 years old, can't act like a youngin and do crazy stuff like that ![]() I got on it anyways and had a blast. Next time though I think I'll just float down a river ![]() Has your grandson adjusted well to playing? He is 20 now. At the time, he did learn how to do imaginary play. Now he is a combination of child, teen and adult. Very unique, almost always happy and playful. He has taught me a lot. I think everyone could benefit spending time with someone like him. I see things totally differently since he’s been in my life. That's awesome! I believe that as well. When I substitute taught for special ed for 5 years I used to say everyone needed to spend a day with a child that was gifted with down syndrome. They teach us to laugh, play, and to love unconditionally! The children with autism teach us to see things differently, through another's eyes. They are blessings, not burdens like some people think. ![]() We're all blessings! |

this subject I can't say I understand exactly. Life happens while we are making plans. thank you Cranky_Geezer make plans in every period of life. being planned I think this is meant to be said. No... It is meant to say have fun what you're doing while you're doing it. to have fun while making plans for life not to keep the entertainment away from ourselves. Hi Sahin (mxb) ![]() It is about having fun and enjoying the company of the person you are with... like on a date, or just hanging out together. It is not about planning it into your day, it's just about being playful and having fun doing things. Hope that explains it better. When you go out with a friend, what do you do for fun? |

One of the things I used to love doing on my birthday was play miniature golf, and ride the go-karts at a place near where me and my late husband used to live.. Talk about being a big kid...you should've seen my old *** driving around that track , passing all the kids (all under 18). I was hell on wheels, I tell ya... ![]() ![]() ![]() I have NO problem doing kid things....if someone thinks it's weird...piss on 'em... I think I will adopt that attitude bluegrass... "piss on 'em" if they have a problem with my being silly. If I want to roll down the hill covered in snow, I'll do it! ![]() ![]() Reminds me of a day I was subbing. One of the boys with autism wanted me to go down the slide with him... that's huge if you know anything about autistic children. None of the teachers or assistants did stuff like that.. just wasn't cool I guess. I went ahead and did it... I felt a little silly up until I saw the look on the child's face... He actually smiled! Brought tears to my eyes. I can play, it just feels awkward and I'd like to get past that so that it feels more natural. ![]() |

I saw this thread earlier this morning, but didn't have an opportunity to chime in. So I just got caught up on the thread...
One of the reasons I've put pressure on myself dating-wise is because I really miss having companionship - that one person I just like being with regardless of what we are actually doing. I've dated a few stick-in-the-muds. That's when I learned that I needed to be with someone more active, who doesn't just want to "hangout". So believe it or not, I agree with what both Cranky and River have said. I can't afford to spend tons of cash trying to impress someone. It's bad enough that I have expensive tastes to begin with. So I have to check my own impulses. That's enough work by itself. So what would I rather do for a "play date"? Actually, I like going for walks in the woods or along the beach. I'm not a "beach person", meaning I'm not someone to sunbathe or swim much (the latter because of ear problems when I was younger). But I did grow up along the shore and near a lake. So water has always been part of my recreation in some form, whether it's swimming, fishing, boating, or just sitting to listen to the waves. I've long wanted a few smaller boats, like a sailboat, canoe, kayak, or rowboat. I find sailing very peaceful and relaxing. I like rowing for multi-tasking, meaning combining exercise with recreation. Canoeing and kayaking are purely for recreation. I grew in a family with a boat, and we did a lot of outdoor activities. I would like to start doing more of those activities again, and preferably not alone. I used to bowl for recreation - not in a league. I stopped because of an elbow injury, but I could still handle it once in awhile. I just haven't had anyone to bowl with. Like River, I like to explore places. When I travel, I like to find a local breakfast nook to frequent during my stay. While I'm there, I like to chat with the locals, get to know them and the town. It was my brother's wedding that made me realize this when I went to Gloucester, MA the day before. While having breakfast I suddenly realized that this was what I ultimately enjoyed about traveling. Another part of that is learning the local history. Sure, it's great to site-see and what not, but as I said elsewhere, I enjoy learning. So when I go someplace, I want to learn what it's like to live and/or grow up there. I want to know the local experience, not a tourist's experience. I was a History major in college, so I generally like learning history. Whether it's local history, family history, natural history... So any kind of recreational activity that involves history, I'm pretty much down with. That could be a museum, a guided tour, a class....whatever. Granted, so far what I've listed isn't fun for everyone, but they do tend to be cheap recreation. For me, unless it's a sport activity, recreation means relaxing and enjoying the moment. That often means enjoying some of the simpler things. For those who may ask why, bigger or more active recreations are great once-in-a-while, but the simpler things tend to be cheaper and never get old. And yet, I've only touched the tip of the proverbial iceberg. |

actionlynx...
What all you have listed are things my late husband and I, as well as the guy before him used to do... If someone is into expensive activities, 4-5 star restaurants, wants to be "shown" a "good time"..oh well...there's a lot of other fish in the sea,...bye bye... (fancy restaurants are nice for special occasions, of course) If someone wants to shame me because I don't have money to blow..they can just piss off and keep on moving... |

Okay, here's what we are doing today.
See this table? We will take this table out to the middle of the bean field with some fishing poles and sit on it and do some fishing. When enough people are watching, we will take this sack filled with cans of beans and show them what we caught. No lima beans tho, we don't want to attract the attention of the bean warden. Later, we can go to the library and hang out in winter cloths while wearing a snorkel, face mask and flippers. Tell people we just love the MobyDick book. Tonight, We can get a candle and a bowl and have our own personal firepit party. |

I went to pick up my friend from Holiday Inn. On the way back we saw these ducks crosssing the road so I put on breaks and stopped. A line of cars was behind me. The ducks we're about 20 of them going to the Lake.
My friend said does this happen a lot ! I said yes. It took 15 minute' then we were on our way. I live in a small town. Coming from the City Chicago. North He doesn't see that happening. I laughed. ![]() |

That's the nice thing about smaller towns, people are more inclined to stop for an animal in the road... and can do so more safely. Glad you're having fun ![]() |
