The skies are gray and overcast and you are walking through the swamp. You come across a witch doctor who has a magic potion, of which one sip would align the forces of nature so that you achieve great power. This could be used to help others, to rule the world, stay well from sickness and disease, etc. There is only one side effect: you will never get to have sex.
What do you think about this? Would you drink it? (I would) |

Oh Hell NO !

I'd cut off the head of the witch doctor and drink his blood and take his power then I would have sex with all the women in his tribe because I would then be the new witch doctor and nobody wants to pissoff a witch doctor.

What do you think about this? Would you drink it? (I would) This is actually a rather amusing description of the essential concepts of what is now known as the Catholic Church. I'm not kidding, or trying to be insulting. Amongst the top guides of that Church (i.e. the priesthood), rituals involving the consumption of "magic potions" are regularly performed (they call them other things, but the Eucharist is essentially the consumption of a magic potion), and they believe that having sex will prevent them from hanging on to the "magic" power of direct alliance with their god. A lot of the rest of the Catholic education, could be seen as an extensive cover story or explanation for why the "magic powers" granted to them by the rituals, never seem to work. Oh, and the Catholics aren't alone in that pattern, they are just the most famous, and the most similar. |

Yes.
With all the good I could do in the world, and how happy/ fulfilled that would make me...I doubt I'd have time to miss that... |
|

Yes I may as well drink it and have power and no sex because I get no sex now so it would be business as usual.

|

Really.

throw the wizards sword! Rolls as natural 15. |

Much longer and I'll drink the potion.

Sex is overrated.

What do you think about this?
Why couldn't I use my power to change the rules so I could have sex? Would you drink it?
No. Among many things I would also use sex to hold power over someone, then I would get them to drink it, and then get them to use their "power" on my behalf. ...Possibly using their power to find me awesome sex partners. |

Oh, and the Catholics aren't alone in that pattern, they are just the most famous, and the most similar. Interesting you come up with this. The 'no sex' rule has a reason. It would distract from Divine connection, although I think the way it's explained is rather naff and possibly incorrect. But having sex creates a lot of energy which is then released and it goes to waste. Only if you are familiar with Kundalini can you harbour it in your body so you get more powerful/stronger energetically by it. In a way it's the same reason professional football players cannot be with their wives shortly before an important match. It takes the zest out of men. Church likely translates that into 'giving to the desires of the flesh makes you a sinner' BS. As for their rituals not working, I wonder about that. I think Catholic church is the closest to the old religion, oddly enough as they also were the cause of slaughtering thousands to rid themselves of it. But to make it easier for people to accept they did incorporate a lot from the old ways, which were very powerful and did work for sure. Many saints, special 'holy' days and rituals are copied directly from European Paganism, adapted slightly so church could live with it, and given another name. Also, I always find it interesting that whenever there's something serious paranormal / evil going on, it's always Catholic church who's called in to sort it. Never Christians. Don't underestimate the wisdom and knowledge the Vatican holds. Not common priests likely, Vatican has special people to deal with this who are educated in this area. But I think what it comes down to is that the Vatican holds the knowledge & info concerning life, the Universe & everything in their vaults. They possibly know more than the secret organisations in the USA & Russia together. Including the stuff that Hitler was busy with (not the annihilation, the magickal things). How Hitler got hold of that info? But the man was on to something for sure. Vatican is likely the only place where you can find the original Bible, likely the original Quran too. The version that holds the truth, not the version that's altered and has things left out from it, which is what people read & follow in their lives. So Catholic ritual not working, I don't think I agree. The watered down version at the end of the lines, possibly. These people are on a 'need to know basis' and will still add to the power of the magick. But at the core, I doubt it. |

Easy...
You don't need a magick potion to help others and to stay healthy. Ruling the world... if you want that you shouldn't have power. If you don't understand the planet is to be 'ruled' and lived from love & equality, not from power, money, hierarchy, suppression, then the last place you should be as at the top. That kind of society is the cause so many people are -and get- ill. No potion for me :) . . |

This kind of thinking is what keeps a lot of people, including myself, stuck in a place of not feeling empowered in ones own life. A pill or potion might mask things and be a temporary fix... but it's not going to take care of the core issues. Like Crystal said... it's love and equality that will bring about health and prosperity, not power, money, hierarchy and suppression. |

The potion would probably only be a placebo, and the result is all in your head.
If I was young - no way; if I was an old man past it, yes I would. |

I do not see the points about the Catholic Church as offensive. It is just history, and insightful.
Both power and sex are tools for survival. I could have said the power can only be used for good things and not power over other people, but power over circumstances and that the sex only be consensual sex, but why water it down? And yeah, I would not be losing very much either on the baseline by sipping the potion. I would prolly die a virgin either way. |

There is a possible future where optimal health may be acquired thru a potion. The science is still in its infancy but the goal is the same.
Nanotechnology Basically, you drink a potion or swallow a pill containing medical nanites and they multiply and start repairing you at the atomic level. Once repaired to optimal health, they continue to keep you that way indefinitely. You essentially become immortal. Cut your head off and the nanites keep both segments alive. Place your head near your body and the nanites bridge the gap and reattach the two parts again. We are a long way from having that technology but it is a possible future. Thing is, sexual ability is also part of optimal health. There is a catch tho. Our ability to reproduce is so we can be immortal in a mortal body. We reproduce so our offspring can perpetuate our genes. If the body is immortal, there is no need to reproduce. If the body can't dies anymore, no need to reproduce to perpetuate our genes. Therefore, sex will become an entertainment exercise and may not be considered vital to immortality anymore. Thus, the nanites may shut off that function. PART ONE - THE FOUNDATIONS OF FORESIGHT

That looks like an awesome book! It is incredible to wonder what the future may be like if that change came. I would hope relationships still stay deep enough that men and women could have proper sex if they wanted. The Science & Technology of Health may take off in future advancement.
