The Jacksonville, Florida, Sheriff's Office said there was a mass shooting with multiple fatalities at a downtown shopping-dining complex on Sunday and urged people to stay far away from the area.

"Mass shooting at the Jacksonville Landing. Stay far away from the area. The area is not safe at this time. STAY AWAY #TheLandingMassShooting," the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said on Twitter.
The shooting occurred during a qualifying event for the Madden 19 Tournament at the GLHF Game Bar, according to the Twitter of CompLexity Gaming, one of the gaming teams. One Madden participant, Young Drini, was grazed in the hand and is away from the scene and safe, Complexity said.

Steven “Steveyj” Javaruski, who was competing in the tournament, told the Los Angeles Times that the shooter was another gamer who began shooting after he lost. Javaruski, 22, claims the shooter “targeted a few people” before killing himself.

I feel your pain. Truly, it is a tragedy for a family to lose a loved one, whatever the race, religion, or nationality of the accused.

i had a family member have to take a life in defense of his spouse, and it was a tragedy just the same, to us.

I feel there is alot of responsibility to go around in addition to ovvious personal responsibility,

in terms of the things our culture prioritizes and glamourizes and the infrastructure that families must try to strive and raise families inside of.

seems most of these things are either an inability to cope with things not going their way (the shooter), which they often then attribute to 'mental illness'

or disputes over perceived territory or disrespect, which is often attributed to 'thug mentality' or 'morals'


I do wonder how terrible it must be for people who feel they are amongst the 'safe' ones, to be so shocked and victimized.

When the cops shoot and kill these mass shooters, you don't see white people out protesting the cops and acting like fools.

But this atrocity would be an atrocity whether it was in a shopping mall or on a street in the ghetto. Though the story would be framed quite differently if it were in a ghetto.

I lived in Jacksonville a year ago for about 1 1/2 years. I know this place where the shooting took place. Been there a few times. Its like a curved interior and exterior strip mall, 2 levels.

Not being from Florida one thing that really stood out was the fact that it seemed like everyone was armed, men and women. At times it seemed like I was the only one not. So, I am surprised no one there was armed and able to shoot him.
