On the news, not long ago, a poll was taken in countries outside of USA - what are you're favorite American accents? 1 -Southern. 2- New York City and 3- Boston. Really?!?!

I guess The Beach Boys lied to me :cry:they don’t wish they could all be California girls :scream:

Of cause I love the Aussie accent. Unlike in America it doesn't matter which State you go to we all sound the same although some maybe slower.

I like most of the American accents but can't say I like the New York accent. I enjoy some of the Southern ones.. have to listen to some for awhile though..

I think my fav would be French, especially when they speak English (women in particular). I like many of the European's when they are speaking English as I don't understand any except English.

I love the Irish, they are a very funny.

Cajun French came from acadie Canada, kicked out by the British and deported to Louisiana about 1650 ish

Come on down to south Louisiana, we can hook you up with French accents

How come there are French accents down there?

I like "my" language which is NYC accent .Some, like the OP don't care for it. And I respect that. Some love it.

But you can't deny that it is unique

I worked in another country for awhile and the company there (and I) interviewed 9 local people ( who all majored in English) before we found a translator who could understand what the hell I was saying.. Lol

I lived in Upstate NY (Glens Falls region) and have visited NYC quite a few times and I could tell the difference between the two accents.
NYC women accents have a "sassy" feel.
There's even a distinction between say, a Brooklyn and a Queens accent.
A least to me. East Ender's and Philly accents sound similar to me.
I also noticed a difference between east and west Ohio accents.
You would think that Missouri and Kentucky accents are the same but their not.
A Texan woman's accent is sexy.
I find most California accents irritating. Makes me think Valley Girl even when a man is the one speaking.
I knew a Panamanian woman that had a very unique but pleasing accent.
Most Central Americans are loud and she was soft-spoken.
I met an Inuit in the service that had a unique accent.

you are right, Tom. there is different dialects within the NYC language. If you were born and raised here I can easily tell what part of the city you are from. The dialect is a bit different and the hand language as well.

Native New Yorkers are very animated.

English! Some accents nicer than others, some kinda funny, some snobby, some horrible, yet I all love 'em.
Like how DCI Gene Hunt (Philip Glenister in real life) spoke (Liverpool) in "Life on Mars" and "Ashes to Ashes".
Not necessarily pretty, but somehow combined with the ruggedness of DCI Hunt it was UBER sexy love

And Scottish! love  love
Not certain which Scottish accent I prefer, but in general hearing that Scottish lilt has an effect on me love
Except for the 1st time I met a Scot... I thought he was German. Boy, was he PO laugh laugh

Used to like Australian, picked up that accent myself when I was there, then BrE sounded weird. Now it's the other way round for me.

Not keen on German, but sometimes it's a language that has real power. Like some Rammstein songs that really hit you in German, yet when done in English they seem to be 'flat' and dead as a dodo.
English does not have that same power.
French is beautiful. Language of love.
Japanese is harsh to the ears as well. Maybe not intended, dunno, comes across that way nonetheless.

Scottish. number one accent. I tried to mimic it as best I could during the time I was living there. Hating America was the new world sport so I had to try to avoid being identified. I loved it before going there but that love grew as I tried to get into it.

but all sorts of accents are interesting to me.

Reminds me of the Scottish anthem. Nice tune that is love

i love the aussie accent,or british,if it isnt TOO 'cockneyed' up!
i find it EXTREMELY sexy!!!

although,a couple of years ago,i was going through mississippi, and found a tupelo honey with such a great southern accent that i sort of fell in love with hers, too!

as far as hispanic women goes, sofia vergara sort of ruined them for me,with her super thick/super fake accent that she does to play the part she is playing. brokenheart
[if you find earlier videos of her speaking, her accent isnt anywhere NEAR as thick as she pretends that it is now!]

and,i have been told by several women [from up north] that they absolutely LOVE my texas drawl!!
