A sheriff’s deputy in South Texas is accused of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl and threatening the child’s mother with deportation if she reported him, authorities said.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said Sunday that investigators arrested 47-year-old Jose Nunez on suspicion of super aggravated sexual assault of a child, pending formal charges.

“The details of the case are quite frankly heartbreaking, disturbing, disgusting and infuriating all at the same time,” Salazar said.

The sheriff said the assaults may have been going on for months, possibly years, and that there could be other victims.

Nunez, a 10-year veteran of the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office who worked at the county jail, was being held at the facility Monday on a $75,000 bond, according to the jail. He was arrested while off duty and is on paid leave.

I know someone who had guns drawn on them for entering their own home WITH the dog. I know someone else who was manhandled by plain clothes cops who never identified themself and mistook him for someone else. I know someone else who was pulled over for TALKING (to a passenger) in their car while driving

all this abuse of power on the taxpayer dime is a shame really. Perhaps they should do wellness checks on these officers and just stop in on their jobs randomly to see that they are not abusing their power, and check their social posts to make sure there arent biases that potentially interfere with their oath to protect and serve.

I'm all for the Officer getting the full force of the law on him and taken down... As far as I'm concerned any one that would Abuse a child specially rape should have their dingle berries cut off..

But what I have a problem with is you putting all Police Officers in this group.. This is about this one officer not the whole department... and what he did...

Myself I do not know one person that a cop stopped them for nothing and Abused their Powers.. Nor do I know anyone that has had a Officer Abuse the Power they have.

The way I understand they do go through extensive training and mental evaluation...

Not saying it does not happen for it does..in ever walk of life... We need stiffer laws on Child Abuse/Rape Period..

He should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law as anyone from ANY walk of life or ANY profession should be.

You cherry pick out cops.. why not lawyers, garbage men, bus drivers, plumbers, clergy, military, teachers, ect, ect ,ect

A rapist is a rapist.. regardless of what they do for a living.

Im just pointing out the capacity for abuse in a tax paid system ... and the potential ways to weed it out ...

I DO know several who have been stopped for nothing and had officers abuse their powers with them.

but you are right, abuse happens in every walk of life. thank goodness there are laws to prosecute those FOUND to be guilty of abuse.

I was just curious the difference in the view of how tackling abuse should be handled from one system compared to another.

I dont know if cherry picking is the right word. I gave three examples of people I actually KNOW PERSONALLY (not heard about or read about) and most people I know can give examples as well.

but the point was just how far the taxpayer logic could go to justify micromanagement to curb abuse or 'save money' even.

?? and those 3 examples were.. police.. that is not zeroing in on one profession?.. cherry picking. Did you scour the web for that story, since you don't live in that state.

And for all your examples thre are examples of police going above and beyond to help people... is there not?

there are over 900,000 sworn police officers in the U.S. do you think that 900,000 of people in ANY profession are all good? Do you think that everyone in our military ( sworn to protect country and us) are good?, in the schools.. all good folks?

my son just finished up 9 years in the Marine corp. he was a assigned to the brig ( jail) as a corrections officer. The place was always full... and yes, some were in there for.. rape.

you cherry picked out cops..

This. Plus prison will be a living hell for him being a former police offers. Which I guess will be punishment for abusing his power.

Its called sensationalism.
It sells newspapers, magazines, TV time and website page views.
Anytime cops do anything wrong people get interested because it is an example of a violation of trust.

The OP is perpetuating this, which originated with Yahoo.Com.
Consider the source.

Like I said in another thread "NEWS is not a show to entertain, its purpose is to inform".
Sensationalism is entertainment because it makes money.
I mean how many people will click on a priest pedophile article anymore?
Dirty cops are now the focus to attract.

Of course you can cherry pick and post horrible stories from certain cops, but are you balanced enough to post courageous stories too?

how about how many lives cops save?

But you choose to focus on the bad apples, as in for that cop that sexually abused a 4 year old? I hope they throw the book at him, that is a horrendous crime against humanity.

why he is on paid leave? well thank collective bargaining for that .

By the way the percentage of unstable cops are very low, it exists unfortunately , as a matter of fact can you tell me one profession out there that doesn't have bad people working it?

Post one profession that doesn't have one bad person or bad people working.

No. I didnt cherry pick or search. I just was reading a newsfeed like any other day. And I thought 'here are people being supported by the taxpayer ... so I wonder ..."

the points that they
1. are not all guilty of abuse
2. have plenty of examples of the 'good'
3 I have or know people who are cops

are similar to points about people in all tax supported systems .. that was kind of my interest

when those points could be considered to give the system and those in it the benefit of the doubt, or when they can be overlooked to treat everyone in the system as potentially suspect ...
