Topic: My name is not Baby! | |

I I think it's actually very common in the southern states to use those types of terms. i was told and Taichung it was a positive way of showing respect. if you feel they need to earn it, then all yourself WHY it bothers you? Do you see it as malicious?

Not many in here even use their name.

I wish someone would call me babe, or baby; prob a bit late now I'm close to 60.

I don't find it amusing when someone call me babe or sweet heart on their first email... this also applies to "cute" a reference to a baby |

I can't stand being called baby by a stranger or a significant other. I am not a baby. Just like boo or boo boo. I am 46 and no one's boo or boo boo. I also don't like any terms of endearment upon meeting someone. It's just odd and inappropriate. We don't have that type of relationship. Later on is different. What I do like at any stage of the games are names that are complimentary. For example, gorgeous, beautiful, sexy, dear, etc. Those are acceptable for me.

Cutie is a cringe worthy one, like being back at school. Or when they send you photos of themselves in the shower after 3 days of chatting, that you really did not ask for

Oh YES and I hated being called HONEY as well on the 1st chat encounter because my name is Tess and not Honey

Do you see it as malicious? Yes, I still often find myself calling women "sweet", not sweetheart just sweet. It's left over from my years living in the SE. |

I agree completely. It sounds too desperate or fake when I haven't even met the guy yet!..damn wait until we have some type of connection of something

Things like this don't tend to bother me. I don't think anyone has been intentions.

It doesn't bother me at first because I know that some people just start with that. It does bother me when they keep on with baby, dear, honey, etc, and don't even care to learn my name at all. That's just annoying when there's no connection and it's not the way to get a connection either.

‘Babe’ is the generic pet name women give all their boyfriends/husbands.
|
|

I don't want a pet name from a boyfriend. Use my real name.
