Topic: My name is not Baby! | |

I am impressed by a person who remembers my name , it shows the sincerity of his intentions to get to know me. Hearing my name is like music to my ears

you've got me thinking i'm at a sore disadvantage here, I'm from "Up North" I refer to MOST women as 'Love'
"Oh, sorry love - here, you dropped your purse" "Oh hang on love, i'll get the door for you. Nae worries" *Is handed change* "Thanks, love - Have a good day." I may be having issues... This could explain a lot |

When someone you don't know or barely know assigns you a pet name or endearment, does get under your skin? I'm not talking about when an elderly person refers to you as Dear...probably because they've forgotten your name. I'm not talking about the lady at the register or DMV who calls everyone Sugar...probably to avoid using the word Ma'am. To me Baby, Sugar, Sweetheart and Darling, and the like, are endearments reserved for family, dearest friends and intimate partners. I guess to me their use is more of a right to be earned. What say you? Yeah, what you said. |

I want a man to call "honey"
. |

Angel cakes... But there's basically only one who can get away with it and me feeling okay with it :)
On here I seriously dislike the "dear" so many non-native speakers English come up with. I guess they think it's the done thing and it's the one that irritates me the most. I never reply if a man comes up with any term of endearment in a first message. Earlier this evening one came with "Hi honey" That only goes down well when the man I love says that to me. |
