You walk away in both scenarios. Both scenarios are hurtful to yourself and to the other as well. I speak of those situations when you know, in your heart, that there is no chance of the feeling of love being reciprocated...waiting around for that magical moment to happen leads to a hostage type relationship that hurts both involved.

I am like the anti-stalker, if I even get a hint someone
no longer likes me I am off and running, track shoes
handy, so for me, like Piscesmoon, you walk away, or
run, depending upon need.

Also if someone were insistent, I would also break the news
to them that there was a better choice out there than me,
and back it up with some stats :-)

Both have happened to me in the last 3 years and neither had a good ending.

I would not want to be with someone...
if they did not love me ...

I think in both situations is to let them resolve themselves, and try to move on. Focus your thoughts elsewhere, hopefully somewhere positive
