How often do you get your way?

Do things you want usually just happen with very little needed on your part?

Do you set your mind and go after the things you want and stay at it till you get them?

Does it seem like the harder you try for things you want the more difficult it is to get them?

Are the conditions the same for all aspects of your life or are they limited to just a few? Romance, Finance, Possessions, Tranquility, Health, etc...

Has it always been that way or is it a new thing just recently?

I just deal the cards Im dealt

I never wanted for much, just health , happiness, a roof, food and clothes, an the ability to laugh and smile

as long as my loved ones and I have those things, I remain contented and when I have extra, it is nice to help others who dont even have that much.

Very rarely have things fallen in to place for me.

I set reasonable goals and take small steps to achieve them.

Double-meat whopper here.
I have been on my own since I was 18,
I do it ALL my way, always have.

No one else to blame, but I keep the glory :-)

Naïve as more than half the world has no roof, food clothes and little to laugh and smile about.. We are spoiled rotten in America and feel entitled to everything but less than half actually work.... sad but true commentary on our present status

I can't say that life has fallen into place for me. I can say I have dealt with the problems before me and learned to move on..

I have worked since I was 15 raised two kids as a single parent from the ages of 7 & 9. Put a down payment on a house after my divorce with what I walked away with... It is not in a fancy neighborhood but it is now paid for and I'm in process of doing what repairs I can as I go along... Setting up for the day I do retire~~

I don't ask for others to help me nor expect things to per say fall in my lap... I have had help along the way and appreciate everything that has been done for me by those that helped..

To me if it is something you want unless you get out there and make it happen then you will be waiting a long time....

As far a health sure I have had my health issues from time to time but very lucky so far nothing that surgery could not fix.... And not on any prescriptions on a regular bases...

Humm now romance sure I have had that within my life as well... I don't go looking for it nor feel that I'm doomed if I don't find it... Nor do I feel that I have been given a raw deal in that department they just did not work out....

As far as Finance I don't know anyone that would not like more money to do the things they would like to or buy things they want.. But still even tho it would be nice I have a roof over my head, car to drive & food to eat.. I'm richer then many of those without those comforts... I work full time and take care of my house myself so if there are things I want I make it a goal and take one step at a time to reach that goal...

My kids are healthy as well as my grand kids~~~ life is good.... can't complain when you look around and realize how good I really have it no matter the struggles~~~

no naivety, Im well aware the numbers of those without so much

I feel children are entitled to care, wherever they are

I dont feel entitled at all, except in as much as having human value for my human efforts and contributions,,,

'work' is a loaded word that in America we only consider valid if there is pay attached to it,,,

This is another one of those things that depends on how much I think about it and why.

If you want to delve into it deeply or intellectually enough, you can get in to what anyone is allowed to expect from their lives, or how much and what kind of self-respect you have for yourself.

One of my most common disappointments in life, for example, has been the repeated discovery that I am NOT allowed to get what I want, or have expectations about all manner of things, because the concept of true American Equality is more idealistic myth than functional reality.

How often do you get your way?

Rarely absolutely.
There's almost always a degree of compromise.

Do things you want usually just happen with very little needed on your part?

That seems too vague of a question.

Do you set your mind and go after the things you want and stay at it till you get them?

Depends on how badly I want them.

Does it seem like the harder you try for things you want the more difficult it is to get them?

Not unless someone is actively trying to keep me from acquiring what I want.

Are the conditions the same for all aspects of your life or are they limited to just a few? Romance, Finance, Possessions, Tranquility, Health, etc...

Conditions change constantly.

Has it always been that way or is it a new thing just recently?

Neither.

Wow, I like that comment!

My initial thoughts slanted me towards looking for commonality in the difficulty in finding someone right. To me it seems like no matter how hard I try, I just can't find anyone that will give me a chance anymore.

Your comment opens a whole other take on how we look at our achievements and failures in society. Does society predetermine failure in most of its citizens? Why? Why not?

Thinking about it, I realize that I have had many great ideas for business in my years but never pursued those ideas because of seeing how many small businesses fail. By contrast I see businesses boom that I feel are much less needed by society.

In my life, if I choose correctly I can succeed in my endeavors that are 'right' with society but the ones that are unique seem to fail me. I have been the professional example too many times. As long as I 'go with the flow' things seem to work out. My issue is that I tend to think "Outside the Box". I was thinking outside the box before it was a 'thing'. Going with the flow is not in my nature. Its something I have to 'try' to do.

My functional reality is that things never just happen for my benefit. To the point that nothing in my life is taken for granted anymore. If I benefit in one aspect I seem to lose in another. Its like there is a limit to the good fortune that I am permitted to have. Could this be the result of some planned endeavor by those in power in society?

The sayings that we adopt in our beliefs about life must be based in some kind of truth. Like; "Work hard and it will all work out for you in the end", "Be dedicated and committed to your ideals and people will respect your efforts" or "God will not give you more than you can handle".
What happens when those sayings fall flat to your expectations? What becomes of the drive that set you on your path to achieving life's goals? How do you recapture the essence of the need to progress?

I see others that succeed in most any endeavor with little or no active hand in it. I'm not talking about those with financial security either. It happens a lot to many people from all walks of life.
I'm sure there are things in my life that others wonder about as well. This topic is about trying to figure out how we see the things in our lives verses what we had to do to get them.
