diets don't really work...cos after diets people tend to eat the way they did that got them fat in the first place and put all the weight back on again. trust me i've tried every single one! you need to change teh way you eat forever! its not easy but possible, if ican do it, anyone can!

Kater-Getting chunky? You? I'll never believe it.

I should be on the ball about losing some weight. Even if I just watch my intake, exercise more and drink that water.

I go for my physical at the end of the month. I'm pre-diabetic and it is blood work time. Ugh.

I've lost over 50 pounds in the past year myself...most of since the beginning of June. I learned how to listen to my body...eat when I'm hungry, stop when I am satisfied (but NOT full). But I have a lot of loose skin on the belly, thighs, and arms. Any suggestions to tighten those up??

Hmm.... I do not know of any remedies sorry... as for me... Ive been trying to walk a mile everyday and its just not working. I will do it for 2-3 days in a row and then take 2-3 days off... Its not that Im not motivated... just running out of time in my day... any suggestions?

Try doing something else bear. Can you get a healthclub membership? If so, take some classes. Being in a class with other keeps you from getting board and seeing others work just as hard will keep you motivated.

It takes time to get the weight off, but once you start seeing it come off, you'll know that your hard work is paying off.

Number one rule here is NOT to give up. Keep it going and don't stop until you reach your goal, no matter how long it takes. This is for life.

Hey Amber, dealing with a know it all in your home is like ok there's no escape, lol, unfortunately. My X husband was a know it all, but he didn't know enough to keep me, lol, but that's another story. Anyway, because you can't escape this person or their annoying ideas, I would just agree with what their telling you. Just say, "you know you are so right", and "why didn't I think of that", lol. Hopefully that will shut them up for a while anyway. If that dosen't work tell them that you really appreciate their ideas and you realize their only trying to help (because you know they are), but that you'd like to keep going the way you've been and that your way seems to be working for you. Good Luck.

Amberdee-- I've lost 170 lbs in the last 3 yrs. I had gbp, and it did wonders for me. I had a friend who had it done prier to me and as she lost and her skin was hanging badly my dr. told me if I exercised enough that it would help take care of the hanging skin. So I guess you could say I was a fanatic at exercising and my dr. COULD NOT BELIEVE I didn't end up with flabby skin hanging. Sure I have some lose skin (who wouldn't after losing 170 lbs.) but it's amazing what exercising (arobics and lifting wts.) can do for you.

It's this last 40 lbs. that I'm struggling getting off. ANY ADVICE ANYONE????

Would any of you might like to have a perm support thread.....if you feel the same, contact Mike and or Van. I think it would great to have a place here where we can express ourselves. And support groups can be so helpful.....Mike and Van are some busy people. But if we ask enough, maybe that would help.

Hello everyone. I think Creations has a great idea. I've lost a lot of weight over the past few years, but, it's a constant strugle. If we could get Mike or Van to keep a permanent thread for support would be great. Think I'll write and ask.

Hi everyone was reading up on this thread of many thoughts on weight loss. I was told that I would not be able to lose weight because of my age bracket. That was all the incentive I needed. I like proving people wrong when the stereotype people into a category. On July 24th of this year I weighed in at 240lbs. I started to make changes in my life, like walking again and then progressed to 2 1/2 lb ankle weights to even add more to the walking workout. I cut out for the most part all junk food. Cut out the pop and chips and bars. Hardly touch process meats anymore. Watch the trans fat content of all food I may eat. Still go to MickyDee’s for a burger every now and then but throw away the buns, lol Cut down my portions of food servings to 1/4. I caught on to the homemade smoothie fruit drinks. Cut out sugar all together from my diet. Also I cut out potatoes and bread. If I eat a slice of bread it is whole wheat or muti-grain and just one slice instead of 2. Now after 5 months of this routine I am now 190lbs and feel fit and young again with lots of energy. I plan to get down to 175 or 180 and hold that weight hopefully. I walk 10k now and no matter if it is -40 out or not I still walk to a fitter healthier life style. Hope this helps some out their as weight loss is not easy to do. :)

Cheers and good luck to everyone :)

I lost 125 pounds about 3 1/2 years ago...now I am struggling to keep it off. I just went into remission in August and I am feeling a little bit better so I am assuming that is why I am wanting to eat more. I am starting to feel better and I do have a little bit more of an appetite, so I really have to watch what I do eat.
I have really been working out on the exercise bike and doing the weights. TOREY...if you are like me, you have lots of excess sking from losing so much weight...so just keep working out and congrats on the weight loss!!
Good luck to all...I hope everyone reaches their goal and figures out why they became over-weight in the first place flowerforyou

I have lost 17 pounds since July. Obviously I'm in no great rush. I'm taking my time, eating right, taking step and cardio kickboxing classes weekly. I am loving the way I look and feel everyday and I wonder why did I ever let myself get fat. I've gone from a size 12 to an 8. I feel like a new woman. I know it's hard to get the weight under control but the rewards are so wonderful in the end.
